Poorna Bell is a British author and award-winning journalist. She published her debut non-fiction book Chase The Rainbow, which was a deeply-affecting memoir of her life with her late husband Rob. Matt Haig described it as "candid, warm, sad, surprisingly funny, raw, brave, bittersweet", and it has been deemed a conversation starter in the world of men's mental health. It has sought to educate around the realities of mental health, and the taboos that surrounds it; Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Women, Arianna Huffington, has described it as a book 'everyone must read'. Poorna's award-winning follow-up book In Search Of Silence, seeks to examine what makes a life meaningful, and to unpick some of the expectations we believe are necessary for a happy existence. Like Chase The Rainbow, it weaves in lyrical prose around landscape and travel. Her third book Stronger, is about her own personal journey to becoming a competitive powerlifter, and how she changed everything she thought she knew about strength for women, and how much potential and power there is to tap into when weight-loss is removed as the main incentive for physical activity. She also creates a roadmap for how we can make physical activity a positive experience for girls, and why it is so important to include older women in the conversation around fitness. She also interviewed over 50 people for the book, creating a manifesto for reconfiguring what we think we know about being strong. Her books and writing have gained praise from the likes of Fearne Cotton, June Sarpong, Bryony Gordon, Jameela Jamil, Zoe Ball, Alastair Campbell and Ruby Wax to name a few.
