My name is Rebeka Uwitonze and I live in Rwanda. During the school year I live at school, and during breaks I live at home with my family. I lived with Meredith Davis and her family in Austin, Texas in 2012-13, and together we wrote HER OWN TWO FEET: A RWANDAN GIRL'S BRAVE FIGHT TO WALK. We decided to write the book in 2017, and I was so thankful that my life would not be forgotten. We decided on a plan for the book, and used Facetime and wrote letters. In 2018 Meredith brought CD's of the book to Rwanda that had been translated into Kinyarwada, so even my parents were able to hear it. We talked about it and made changes for our editor, and now I am so excited that it will be published!
