After spending the first half of his life dairy farming, Rick sold his herd and returned to university. Since then, he's taught Backcountry Travel, Mountaineering, and Cartography, and worked outdoors spawning fish and tracking wildlife populations. He splits his time now between writing and other semi-respectable retirement pursuits. Rick lives in the northwest tip of the continental United States with his wife and son, the Rubber Chicken.
