Dr Robert L. McHenry graduated from high school as a member of the ‘Class of 1965’ and, as such, belongs to the ‘baby-boomer’ generation. He joined the United States Air Force as an enlisted member and retired as an officer with a career spanning 24-years, 10-months, and 18-days of military service. But then, who is counting. He started his college education while on active duty and completed his PhD after retirement. He was also fortunate to have traveled in Europe and South East Asia in addition to several states throughout the United States. He has taught several different business, engineering, and management courses as an adjunct professor starting at the Community College level and then working his way up to the University level. He continued his college teaching after retirement from the Air Force and has taught in several colleges over the years both in the traditional ‘brick and mortar’ classroom, as well as in the ‘online learning environment’. Dr McHenry is the principal of the Common Sense Approach LLC consulting firm which is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). He writes books across a wide range of topics. His primary interests are business management and veteran’s issues. Recently diagnosed with an incurable cancer he maintains an active schedule of writing daily along with his many medical appointments. He currently has three books in various stages of development. He is co-authoring the “American Tragedy on the World Stage: Agent Orange Facts Revealed” with another successful Agent Orange author. This book deals with the controversial subject of Agent Orange and how the highest levels of the United States government knew full well that Agent Orange was a harmful-to-humans, toxic herbicide but continued to use it anyway. And how the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Compensation and Pension Services continues their ‘deny, delay, and wait until they die’ response to valid claims by veterans for benefits they rightfully earned and deserve for their service during the Vietnam War over 4 decades ago. His “Follow – Supervise – Manage – Lead or Quit” book is all about the workplace and provides individuals at every level of an organization useful information on how to be successful. His “My Cancer Journey” book will describe his continuing battle with a rare, incurable cancer. These three books are planned for a 2019 release. Dr McHenry and his wife of 34-years currently live in a small, independent living cottage in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) along with their small toy poodle. They both enjoy reading and taking vacations in Gatlin-Forge (Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge) and Mud (Myrtle) Beach.
