Ross is the Sangwoo Youtong Chee Professor of theology at Regent College where he teaches theology, theology and science, ethics, and the theology and spirituality of mission and missional churches. He has two earned Ph.D.s, one in organometallic chemistry at Queen’s University (ON), and the other, in theology at St. Andrews University, in his native Scotland. He has pastored three churches in Canada, in New Westminster, Montreal, and White Rock. Ross lost his precious wife, Sharon, in September, 2008, to cancer, after 27 years of marriage. God brought another wonderful gift into Ross' life when he was married in November, 2011 to Tammy Carrillo, who lost her husband to cancer after 20 years of marriage, also in 2008. Together they have 5 children. Ross spent much of his early life in southern Africa, and enjoys cricket, rugby, soccer, squash and fly-fishing. Tammy and Ross love to walk together, golf together, and they enjoy musical concerts from symphony to rock. They love to escape to their cottage on Vancouver Island to recharge, read and write. Ross published the book Missional God, "Missional Church: Hope for Re-evangelizing the West" (IVP Academic) in 2012, and "Jonathan Edwards and The Life of God: Towards an Evangelical Theology of Participation" in January, 2015, with Fortress Press. "Where Do Broken Hearts Go? An Integrative Participational Theology of Grief was published with Cascade Press in 2016. Built around the narrative of his own loss, this is a book that can provide insight and comfort for those who are going through grief and those caring for them. In 2016 he published "Echoes of Coinherence: Trinitarian Theology and Science Together" (Cascade, 2017). This book won the Grace Irwin Award for the best academic book in Canada for that year. On October 19, 2019, his book, "Total Atonement: Trinitarian Participation in the Reconcil'n of Humanity and Creation," was published by Fortress Acad./Lexington. His latest book, Theological Ethics: The Church’s Integrity in Contemporary Context (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, Feb. 2, 2021) speaks to many of the challenging ethical issues the church faces today in a gospel way.
