Sarah Wisseman (a.k.a. Sally Underhill, Sarah Underhill Wisseman) writes the Lisa Donahue Archaeological Mysteries and the Flora Garibaldi Art Conservation Mysteries. Sarah hadn't a clue that she wanted to be an archaeologist until she traveled to Israel right after her freshman year in college. There she ate felafel, fell in love with Jerusalem, camped illegally on Masada, and spent a month at the excavation of biblical Beersheba. Once hooked by archaeology, she returned for her Junior Year Abroad at Tel Aviv University, an experience that eventually inspired The Dead Sea Codex, the first Lisa Donahue novel (first published in 2006, reissued in 2015). Sarah is an archaeological scientist, retired from at the Program on Ancient Technologies and Archaeological Materials at the University of Illinois. Her research project on Egyptian mummies led to the second Lisa Donahue mystery, Bound for Eternity (first published in 2005, reissued in 2015). The third Lisa Donahue mystery, The Fall of Augustus, and the fourth, The House of the Sphinx, both came out in late 2009. A standalone mystery set during Prohibition, The Bootlegger's Nephew, was published in early 2012. The first Flora Garibaldi mystery, Burnt Siena, was published by Five Star/Cengage Learning in June, 2015. This traditional mystery is set in Siena, Italy, featuring all new characters. A young conservator discovers that her bosses are dabbling in both the smuggling of antiquities and the forgery of paintings. The second Flora Garibaldi mystery, Catacomb, was published in April 2016. Flora and her policeman boyfriend join a perilous search under Rome for Nazi-looted art. The third mystery in the Flora Garibaldi series was published in September 2019. In The Botticelli Caper, Flora discovers that a world-famous painting in the Uffizi Gallery is a fake... All three Flora Garibaldi books are being republished as audiobooks with Amazon ACX! The narrator is Carrie Coello and the covers are created by Ben Coello. Sarah has added several short works to the Kindle Store. They are: Heaven for Roosters (a short story about a theft in the Dominican Republic), Then Fall Caesar (a short story similar to the novel, The Fall of Augustus, but with a very different ending, and Mummy Dearest (a novella form of the longer Bound for Eternity).
