Scott Michael Powers is a journalist and novelist living in Florida. He is a graduate of Ohio University, where he studied journalism and creative writing, and he lived in eight states, mostly in Florida, Texas and Ohio. As a journalist, he spent more than 30 years writing about everything from NASA missions to presidential campaigns, murders to theme park business, and nuclear waste contamination to shrimping, always looking for amusing characters and enchanting locales. The same is true for his fiction. He strives for great, honest, character-driven plots. Somehow, everything seems to turn into action-thrillers heavily flavored with science fiction, drawn from his fascination with sciences from molecular medicine to cosmology. He hopes what he writes also make people smile, maybe even laugh, on a regular basis. Novels are entertainment, after all. The Roswell Swatch is his first published novel. He's currently in rewrites of what will be his second, The Murder Plague. The third, a yet-to-be-titled Space Coast thriller, is taking form in bits and pieces of writing and outlines. And the fourth is haunting him already. Just published as part of the short story series "The Masters Reimagined" is his contribution, "The Brazilian Butler's Millionaire," the story of what happens after a 1944 American party girl arrives in Rio de Janeiro with a new husband she really doesn't know. He and his great love Connie Powers live in an Orlando, Florida, neighborhood that has lots of big trees, and cops for neighbors. His midlife crisis didn't result in a muscle car - though he's still keeping a delusional eye out for a '71 Plymouth Roadrunner to show up in the driveway. But it did cause him to go back to his rock 'n' roll roots and start wearing hats again, as he did back when Billy Jack was as cool a look as it got.
