Tara Goedjen wrote her first story at age nine about children disappearing at midnight, and she’s been writing and reading ever since (she used to get in trouble for “reading too much” as a kid). Growing up, her favorite books were The Talisman by Stephen King, Beloved by Toni Morrison, and We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. Before publishing her young adult speculative mysteries THE BREATHLESS and NO BEAUTIES OR MONSTERS, Tara received a Master of Fine Arts from The University of Alabama and a PhD from The University of Wollongong in Australia. She has worked as a college creative writing instructor, as a tennis coach for teens, and as a fiction editor for a publishing house. These days, when she's not at her desk, you can usually find her hiking outdoors or chasing after her two young daughters.
