T.C. Griswold (Tarin Christopher Griswold) was born and raised in rural northeastern Utah. While growing up in rural Utah in the 1980s and 1990s, he was exposed to Mormonism, various forms of Protestantism as well as indigenous Native American religious paradigms. From a young age he was enamored with Eastern philosophies, particularly Buddhism and Taoism. In 1996, while in high school, T.C. Griswold received a scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Congress and the Japanese Ministry of Education to study abroad in Japan. During that exchange program he had the opportunity to practice Zen meditation at Buddhist temples in Western Japan. T.C. Griswold holds BA in Political Science from the University of Utah. He holds a MS in International Relations from Troy University, and holds a Master of Second Language Teaching (MSLT) degree from Utah State University. He taught at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) where he was promoted to Senior Lecturer. He is currently a postgraduate Divinity student at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. One of T.C. Griswold’s favorite pastimes is reading books about religion and philosophy. In 2005, he began his studies of Eastern Orthodox Christianity; while living in Tokyo (2003-2006), he began investigating the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Resurrection Cathedral established in 1891 and located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. He enjoys studying Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, Christianity as well as the writings of the ancient Greek philosophers. In 2022, he received a full Orthodox Christian baptism with the patron, Saint Christopher “Christ Bearer” (Χριστόφορος) in Greek, which is also his middle name. Christopher enjoys comparing various religious, philosophical, and ontological paradigms. He believes this is useful in discovering universal patterns and truisms, and he is optimistic about the future of humanity in Christ.
