His writing has appeared in The Washington Post, Recovery Today, and he has published a number of novels, children's books, and memoirs. His young adult series include Elk Riders and Snog Team Six. Elk Riders, an epic fantasy series, won a Kirkus Star and a Moonbeam Children’s Book Award. Reviews have called it: "brilliant, brutal, evocative, visionary, and divine." The Snog Team Six series include volumes 1-3 (published) and volume 4 (forthcoming). They have been called "zany, wacky, and unexpected," a bit like the author himself.
