Description
Josie doesn’t need any help raising her son.
Pregnant at 16, Josie learned the hard way about men and their empty promises. She picked herself up and is raising her 11-year-old son. By herself. And that’s the way she intends it to stay. Unfortunately, her impressionable boy becomes fascinated by the scruffy, intimidating biker who lives next door.
The scars on Holt’s face are only the most visible of his wounds.
Out of the hospital after being attacked in his own damn house, Holt is coming to terms with the fact that his scars frighten people. Like his now-ex-girlfriend, who ran after one look at him. Like his redheaded neighbor, who hauled her boy away as if Holt was a serial killer. Fine. He’ll give the pretty bartender all the space she wants.
The Shadowlands will bring them together....
When Josie starts bartending in the exclusive, private club, she discovers her neighbor is a member. And a Master - a skilled, powerful Dom who can make her fantasies come true. Slowly, the firefighter breaks down the walls around her heart, teaching her how to trust. How to love...
But when her son’s choices lead to disaster, can their relationship survive?

Great catching up with the Shadowlands
#Audible1
This was a great story, and while it started out slow for me, when it picked up, I couldn't stop!
We have known Holt, he has been around, and played an important role in the last book in the series. He is sweet, kind, understanding, a friend to everyone, and just a little too perfect. He was in looks as well, but being on the sharp edge of a knife attack changed that as well. Not hugely, but his perfect looks are now marred. He appreciates everything about Josie from the moment he meets her, but Holt forgets that not everyone has his sunshine approach to life
Josie hasn't had it easy, and being betrayed by the men in her life has left her wary. She internalizes everything, and then discounts it with reason. She tries this with Holt, but he is rather persistent about things. Even when she finally concedes any point, her doubt takes over. Throw in an 11 year old boy, and it definitely ties things up
The bad guys in this book, they are emotional and psychologically bad. The BDSM in this book, very light, Josie has no exposure, and is only there because she is working the bar. Catching up with others, well, Anne and Ben have a big thing happen. We also see Marcus and Gabbie, Sam and Linda, Jake and Rainie, and of course Uzuri and her dragons. Raoul and Kim show up at some pivotal points as well, and a glimpse of what is going on with Dan and Kari.
Overall, I loved the read, and seeing what was going on in the Shadowlands!
