Author David Alexander: Hack-Averse, Ghostwriter-Free
David Alexander is a globally recognized defense professional, Pentagon researcher and historian, NATO policy analyst, global defense consultant, and one of the world's most versatile and prolific authors. As surefooted at writing nonfiction as he is at writing fiction, he is known for his unique talent for powerful plotting and unexpected story developments, such as feature in recent releases such as KILL CHAIN: UNDER ATTACK II, HABU PATCH and I KINDA SPY. Among the latest of these is THE KING OF WEST BROOKLYN, a brutally realistic Mafia-themed crime thriller.
Dubbed "an Ian Fleming for the 21st Century" by one reviewer, David Alexander is an author of both fiction and nonfiction. Known mainly as a book author, he has written in virtually all literary and journalistic forms. His fledgling appearance in print dates to a sonnet published in a New York City daily newspaper when David was seven. Between then and today, he has written and published in virtually every literary category, including novels, novelettes, short fiction, poetry, essays and film scripts.
Investigative journalism, technical writing on defense-related subjects and short fiction over Alexander's byline have appeared in US and international periodicals that have ranged from the glossy pages of Penthouse Magazine to the more sober leaves of the global defense journal Military Technology. His books and shorter writings have been translated into seven languages, including Italian, German and Japanese. Alexander is an inveterate traveler and among the alumni of literary passengers on the Orient-Express; he has often used it as a basis for plot and reportage. David alternates his time between New York City, Paris and Rome, where he is comfortably situated on the east bank of the Tiber between the Vatican and the Colosseum, all the better to contemplate the agonies, ecstasies, follies and nobilities of humankind.
David Alexander is also a prolific author of short fiction and has contributed to internet and print journals and anthologies. Some of Alexander's more commercial short fiction, such as espionage and hardboiled detective stories that originally appeared in such magazines as Gallery, are also available via his website. He also edited the anthology of short fiction and poetry, Death and Venice, published in trade paperback by Web Del Sol press.
Unlike many another, David is no corporate tool who lets others do his writing for him and slaps his name on the cover of a book by someone else. Every book under David Alexander's byline has been written by him and by him alone. Every word in those books has been written by him and by him alone. There are no "house copyrights" or second bylines indicating that hired hacks did the work. There is only one byline, and it reads David Alexander, author.
Above all, David Alexander is an author with genuine literary credentials, one who lives to write and writes to live.
His short story Conversations With the Doge of Venice, originally published in Death and Venice, was picked up by Highbeam Research as a featured story. Alexander's short fiction has appeared in numerous print and digital media venues. These include fiction journals such as Mississippi Review. whose editor, author Frederick Barthelme has praised Alexander's short fiction. Barthelme wrote: "There are few story writers working today more vibrant, innovative and exciting than David Alexander. His stories jump off the page in fits of sensory attack, spiritual complication, emotional trouble. I don't know where he came from, but I know where he's going -- to the front rank of American storytellers."
David was recently contacted by the producer of the documentary series for the History Channel entitled "America's Book of Secrets." This led to an agreement for the author's appearance and interview for the segment of "America's Book of Secrets" titled "Secrets of the Pentagon" as a knowledgeable observer of Pentagon history and affairs. The two-hour interview took place on a film location set at Gild Hall in Manhattan. David has appeared as an in-studio interview guest on the national radio program Air America / The Lionel Show; he was a guest on the national radio program the Dennis Miller Show. Some other recent media appearances include, The Lionel Show (Air America Radio; New York), Newsmakers (WRJN FM; Milwaukee/Racine, WI), Dan and Mike in the Mornings (WBEX AM; Columbus OH), and the Jim Bohannon Show.

For the latter he has covered a variety of topics that range from nuclear weapons to battlefield robotics; all of his writings have made use of his considerable expertise in tactical matters, geostrategic policy and international military affairs.
