With all the hype and the vastl amount of great reviews. I had high expectations of the book. Although the narration was spectacular, the story fell flat and the characters had no depth to them. I give this book a big "meh" at best. If it wasnt for the narration I probably wouldnt have gone past the first chapter or two.

Absolutely amazing!

This book gave me all the feels. I was laughing and smiling and sometimes frustrated and sad. I highly reccomend it for anyone looking for a slice of life novel with a bit of romance. And the narration was one of the best, a great job. I'll be looking more into Mhairi McFarlane's novels. I am hooked and how the way she writes.

the premise was super cute and I was looking forward to reading it, but the characters were kinda bland and there wasnt as much romance as I had hoped for. I'd definitely skip this book.

Felt like an erotic novel for teens

Hear me out. The eroctic part was what actually made the book decent enough to listen to. It was hot and I quite enjoyed it. HOWEVER the main character, Tessa.... OMG she is the most judgemental, self-obsessed and naive character I have ever read for the following reasons:
1. She referred to almost every other female character other than herself as a skank, slut or whore. Every girl was "caked in makeup" or wearing incredibly revealing clothing. Way to shame other girls because they arent like you.
2. Calling the kettle black, guess who eventually starts wearing makeup and wearing tighter clothes? The main character, Tessa.
3. The worst part on top of her judging the other girls, *possible spoiler* SHE CHEATS ON HER BF. What kind of decent person does that? Especially one that constantly regards herself as better than everyone else.
4. There is such a double standard. Harden can sleep with every girl on campus but he isn't a slut by her terms? Instead he's experienced and sexy.
5. Tessa is completely unrelatable to most readers. She gets to go to college paid by her mom, she gets hit on by literally every guy in school, gets fought over, she is smart, gets the greatest job and the hottest guy in school? The author made her too perfect and it doesnt help that she puts down every other girl around her and even every other person that isnt like her. I hoped she would grow out of her view of the world, but she never does. She always sees herself as better, I couldn't stand it.

this is the second book I've read by Colleen Hoover and I am still so impressed by her work. I fell in love with Ben and Fallons love. Their intimate scenes make were so steamy I found myself blushing and hot throughout them. I cant wait to read another one by her!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. it is definitely one of my favourite romantic novels. I hope to read the sequel soon!

Don't bother

The story: With such a hype about this book, I was excited to read it. However, the book was too cringy. The characters had zero depth to them and the romance was subpar. Maddy, the main character, is so naive, as seen the drastic decisions she makes. The story was all over the place and made zero sense. It was so unrealistic... I know this is a book and authors can be imaginative, but her story isnt plausible.

so don't bother reading it.

Excellent! except for...

After reading Eleanor and Park, I was eager to read Fangirl, and it was such a good book. I really loved the characters and the connections between Regan and Levi. However I hated the snippets of the Simon Snow parts. I found it took away from Cath's story a bit. I liked her fanfiction snippets but not GTL's. Just my opinion, the book could have done without. However, it's still a great novel. I wish Rainbow Rowell would write more YA novels.
