I enjoyed this story quite a bit. It follows Two hockey players through many years starting just before they get drafted to rival nhl teams. The boys are very different but share a deep competitiveness and confusing sexual attraction.

For much of the book it is just little snapshots of brief encounters with each other and with assorted minor characters. Until they are men who finally fall in love. I thought it was quite well done.

The narration made me want to smack someone. I read a friend’s review who said how happy they were the narration improved from book one. I can hardly imagine it being worse. All the accents varied in style and thickness throughout the book. The women’s accents were painful to listen to. The tone often did not match text. For example one line was said at top volume with the next bit of dialogue something like “he said softly”. And then there was the inability to say Canadian place names. Ok Saskatchewan can be hard for some but Regina is not hard. They even have a slogan about their name rhyming with Vagina.
