1975 is a time of change in America. The Vietnam War is ending. Muhammad Ali is fighting Joe Frazier. And in the smalltown of Monta Clare, Missouri, girls are disappearing. When the daughter of a wealthy family is targeted, the most unlikely hero emerges—Patch, a local boy, who saves the girl, and, in doing so, leaves heartache in his wake. Patch and those who love him soon discover that the line between triumph and tragedy has never been finer. And that their search for answers will lead them to truths that could mean losing one another.

Long, boring with poor plot

This book could have ended at multiple spots. It just kept going and going. It only wraps up in the last 20 minutes with “mic drop” revelations that you could see from a mile away. Holes in the plot big enough to drive a truck through. Unlikable characters who remain one dimensional. I have no quarrel with the performance-the narrator was good—but the book sucks. Save yourself hours of your life and give it a pass.

When everyone is sleeping, he comes into their houses. He takes one thing. A photo of their child. A sinister thief on a power trip or something even darker and more sinister? Detectives Jackman and Evans find themselves on the hunt for a highly unusual burglar who seemingly only steals photographs. I have now binged all these audible books in the Jackman/Evans series. They are such great mysteries, infused with interesting and likeable characters, beautiful locations, and exciting plots. The narrator is amazing too! Highly recommend!

Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.

Strong start lame end

I was really engrossed by this story. The main character is well-crafted and likeable. But the last third of the book has numerous implausibilities that diminished my enjoyment of the book as a whole. I won’t spoil it for you but the legal situation makes zero sense and the main character’s actions with respect to the reporting of the crime are totally incongruous with her character up to that point. It was a bummer because I really enjoyed this book until the last part. The narration was excellent.

Histoire
A woman gets involved with a psychic who may be able to find her missing son. Five footprints are the only sign that four-year-old Daniel Buck was ever here. Every day, Anna Buck guards the little prints in the cement. Polishing them to a shine. Keeping them safe. Spiraling toward insanity. Anna is desperate for hope, which she's not getting from the police or her husband, James. So when a woman tells her she's found a true psychic, a "shut eye", she grasps at it. Maybe he can tell her what happened to her son.

Creepy and engaging

Really love this author. This work is engaging and the performance of the narrator is terrific. I couldn’t stop listening! However, there are some significant plot threads that get left hanging and make no sense.
