Possibly it's not to save a pair of drowning girls, not go 'viral' on social media and certainly not to let the local police take your passport, trapping you on a small 'party' island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. But Steve isn't the average guy, he's ex-military, ex-enforcer and ex-human. He's a one man nanite fuelled nightmare for those that cross the line, and he's decided that its time to clean up his act. He's going to make up for the things he's done, and save 'the little guys'.

Review failure
Évalué le: 2024-10-02
The negative reviews are not accurate for this book however I can see how early on in this book some people may find it cheesy like an 80's action movie, personally I enjoyed those cheesy 80's action movies and many other movies from that era so take my review with a grain of salt, anyways yes there are a few funny albeit cheesy moments early on but that narrative doesn't last long at all and Jez really starts to build a very interesting world and story, I do really enjoy this take on a magic system and all the characters are well written and enjoyable, also the type of universe Jez decided to base this story on is fantastic and I couldn't be happier for the change, other good authors have written in a similar universe but IMO Jez has really nailed it down. Do yourself a favor and ignore the negative views on this book as in this case they are not reliable

Histoire
A Secret Service operative and dedicated survivalist, Special Agent Del Roosevelt had a plan for every world-ending scenario and regularly trained for them all. He was even ready for a date with the hottest woman in his office next Friday. At least he hoped so. But all that training, all those rations, all that prepping? Useless for the apocalypse that actually played out. Del wakes up half-buried in a giant trash pile, missing his thumbs. And, um, covered in red fur. He's stuck in a world of fuzzy monsters, senseless violence, and cult-like crusaders.

There is so much hilarity in this book I don't even know how to properly structure this review! Its a wild ride and the story is just fantastic....cookies man....dam cookies lol anyways that wont give much away and I cant think of much more to say without giving away many many funny situations the MC ends up in. Eric must have been having some real fun writing this new series. The quality with story/world building/characters and such is as you would expect from Eric and IMO this is a nice change from Eric's others series in a great way. Thanks Eric you are by far the best author I have come across

With no way out of the village on his own, he had always held onto the hope that one day his magic would awaken and give him access to his spheres. But he’s about to turn eighteen and it’s never come. Instead, he’s settled into his lot as a sarcastic and quick-witted innkeeper. That all changes one night when his old flame, who escaped the village to become a mage’s anchor, returns. Ard’s life is about to go through some dramatic changes, and he’s not ready for them.

Usually a five star Author
Évalué le: 2024-08-12
JF is an incredibly talented author however over the last couple of books he is getting overly descriptive with many many little things (perhaps wordy would be a better descriptive?) which we are very much aware of. I do find myself zoning out and missing parts of the books and honestly I will say I am not really excited when the next book comes out like I used to be. I completely understand the story cant be all action with little substance which would completely ruin this series but JF had a fantastic balance in his early books, I would say it was the perfect balance of action/character development/world building but now its skewing heavily towards world development in a very tedious way with far to much repeated details. I will continue on for the next couple of books but if it doesn't balance out like the older books I will probably shelve this series and perhaps revisit at a later date. I will say JF is in my top three favorite authors and always will be. This latest book is very well written by the way, the quality is still just a superb as his early books but the balance is just not there for my taste. But this is just the opinion of a person who can certainly 'Not' write any thing of substance or quality haha so take it with a grain of salt as the saying goes.

Histoire
Ajax is one of Earth’s most elite, a Paladin pilot, and trusted to fly the most advanced starfighters humanity ever produced. His carrier and the rest of the fleet have fallen back, the recent damage from the elven betrayal making it impossible to stay in the fight. He knows they’ll return, and they’ll treat this world to the same kind of plasma bombardment that the elves had inflicted on Mother Earth. The real problem for Ajax, though, is that he’s parachuting down onto it now, his arm broken.

Where to start
Évalué le: 2024-08-02
First off I did not like this new series to start but as always I give any book I start at least a few hours to see if I will change my mind. The reason I did not like this new book was the MC's unfortunate over the top bad luck was honestly a little cringy to the point I almost quite the series, however there were parts to this story that did catch my interest such as the revelations a few hours in which I wont go into because it would spoil the story but do trust they are very interesting. The world building is quite good and the not a magic system but kind of a magic system is great, Lastly the narration is spot on as one would expect from Chris and Jessica. Oh and the bad luck doesn't really go away but it does fit once Jez flushes out the story and the MC's becomes more of a bada**. Yes hands down worth the credit in my humble opinion

Histoire
Michael has taken the Game by the throat. No longer content to lurk in the shadows, he has started down a path that will inevitably bring him into conflict with the Powers. But the Powers are no easy foes. Nor are they Michael’s only adversaries. Other enemies stir. Some confront him openly, while others watch patiently from the sidelines. A lone wolf no more, and with many of his own pieces in play, Michael may find himself more exposed than he believes. The stakes are high. And the schemes of the players convoluted.

Yes the other reviews are correct that this book does not continue from the last installment however this book in my opinion was perfect for the MC to further develop without crowding the main story. This book is not slow paced, it has quite a lot of action and is very interesting. I surmise the listeners who are unhappy with this installment prefer the main story just to continue without any much needed stops in between for character development. You shouldn't skip this book, it really adds quite a lot to the main story and is very good.

Histoire
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

If you have made it this far into the series and are questioning whether you should continue or not I highly recommend you continue as this book is quite remarkable. I rarely have an issue while waiting for the next book in any series but in this case I’m at a bit of a loss here, this book was so well done and the ending is a masterpiece that I genuinely feel a loss that I have to wait for the next book in the series. If you are new to this series give it a chance and try it out, you will not be disappointed
Also I want to add something on the low star reviews left by other listeners over on the American side of audible, I suggest you ignore the negative comments like raging man child or a MC who takes advantage of his people etc etc, if those people had actually listened to this series they would clearly recognize that their comments are not supported by the plot in anyway shape or form, I believe it’s your typical SJW’s and so on who are leaving bad reviews, if you happen to be one of those people reading this then I hope this review makes your day.

Unbeknownst to him, Ray is about to partake on an adventure filled with magical beasts, warring factions, and a leveling-up system out of this world. When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

A nice change
Évalué le: 2023-05-30
I have been listening to a lot of fantasy and litprg and I will say this is the perfect series to get a break from those other genres you know to cleanse the pallet so to speak. This series is remarkable and I would say it is equally as good as the Galaxy's Edge Series. A very well done MC and the side characters are great, the AI characters are a nice comedic break as well, not as good as skippy and no one every is as good as skippy....ever
