Histoire
Recently divorced and reluctantly retired, Julia Bird has fled London to enjoy idyllic rural life in the Cotswolds. Determined to have the perfect English garden, her first job is to tear down the old shed, where she unearths much more than she’d bargained for: a body, apparently buried for decades. But who could it be, and who killed them? The police draw a blank, and even the gossip-fest that is the local book club can’t remember anyone going missing in the village.

An enjoyable listen, a fun story set in a small village, gives an English charm to it. Story isn't groundbreaking, but characters are well written and performed.

Histoire
As far as we can see there are countless other galaxies of all shapes and sizes set within an ever-expanding space that was created in a "Big Bang" nearly 14 billion years ago. Along with solutions to old puzzles, however, come new riddles, as most of our Universe appears to be in the form of some kind of unseen "dark matter" and incomprehensible "dark energy" whose natures and origins remain unfathomable.

What a joy to listen to, the professor, once again delivers fantastic information with an obvious passion and excitement, in a calm natured way.
An understanding of at least the basics would be helpful if listening to this, but topics are explained very clearly and some great analogies given. The subject matter is interesting and in some cases things will be mentioned that have since been performed or figured out.
Highly recommended.

The heart of this course examines the planets themselves, and reveals how they are constructed and how they differ from one another. By studying the physical astronomy of all the planets in the Solar System, we can attempt to understand their true nature. Ultimately, these lectures will bring us to a greater understanding of the Solar System's creation, which brings us again back to the beginning and what it means to us as we look outward from our rotating Earth.

While obviously a small amount of info is out dated, this would be my only fault. The Prof. is a joy to listen to, energetic, clearly enthusiastic and clear. Some great snippets in between the large info and some things he says like "the next great comet will likely pass by in 10 or so years" last year was comet Neowise, little predictions he mentioned that have since come true.
An excellent listen from start to finish.

Histoire
In the bleak moments after defeat on mainland Europe in winter 1939, Winston Churchill knew that Britain had to strike back hard. So Britain's wartime leader called for the lightning development of a completely new kind of warfare, recruiting a band of eccentric free-thinking warriors to become the first 'deniable' secret operatives to strike behind enemy lines, offering these volunteers nothing but the potential for glory and all-but-certain death.

Well narrated, well compiled and tells the story of these men who were clearly all lunatics in the best possible way.
If you are learning about WW2 this is an absolute must read/listen.
I checked some of the info against other accounts and could not find errors worth worrying about.
Thoroughly enjoyed it in all aspects.

Histoire
Between 1937 and 1945, approximately 55 million people perished in the series of interrelated conflicts known as the Second World War. No continent was left untouched, no ocean unaffected. The war led to the eclipse of Europe and the emergence of the United States and the Soviet Union as global superpowers; ushered in the atomic age; produced, in the Holocaust, the most horrific crime ever committed in the history of Western civilization, and led to the end of Europe's colonial empires around the world.

Thomas Childers not only wrote and compiled this course, but narrates it. on both counts I cannot stress how well these have been accomplished. The info within is accurate to my knowledge and extremely wealthy. Cannot reccomended this enough, if there is one book or audiobook you buy about WW2, this should be it.
Absolutely phenomenally written, compiled and narrated. First class.

The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob - featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter. Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct.

Fascinating story and fantastic narration
Évalué le: 2019-05-04
I wasn't sure what to expect from this, the title caught my eye and I went out on a limb. Very glad I did, I'm currently half way through book 2 and have book 3 ready to rock. A different twist on space , time and ideology and the existentialism of being. Narrated extremely well too, nothing about this product is remotely negative, if you like space and time stories, this one cannot be missed.
