Histoire
She’s beautiful, rich, and reckless. When Lady Constance Stonewell accidentally ruins the Earl of Apthorp’s entire future with her gossip column, she does what any honorable young lady must: offer her hand in marriage. Or, at the very least, stage a whirlwind fake engagement to repair his reputation. Never mind that it means spending a month with the dullest man in England. Or the fact that he disapproves of everything she holds dear. He’s supposedly the most boring politician in the House of Lords.

I am in love with this author ! Her story lines are intricate and delicate but in addition, she allows for fantasy that is scandalous but still titillating. If you like a clean romance, this isn’t for you.
However, for myself, I enjoyed the innocent enjoyment of the gritty.
Please do more books and please God, have the same narrator read them on Audible. Well done.

Histoire
A brutal attack on Emily Stanton's family has left her for dead...until she is found in the woods by a handsome stranger with a thick brogue who vows to protect her. There's only one problem: As a woman with a noble English background, she has no business keeping company with such a man. For Scotsman Iain MacEnroy, Emily's high-tone accent is a bitter reminder of the oppressive regime he left behind. The last thing he needs is to be burdened by the needs of a beautiful, blue-eyed Englishwoman.

Not as good as her others...but okay...

First, let me say I enjoy Hannah Howell's historical novels so much. I have read most of them. Overall, the story line was very interesting. I loved the historical references to the settlement era of the Americas. I enjoyed the mixture of cultures from Scotland, England and Americas. However, I was completely put off by the narrator... especially the voicing of the hero, Ian. All I could picture while he spoke was a very old Scottish man. His voice was neither sexy or smooth. It just sounded wrong to me. In addition, there are several times during the story that I thought I had rewound it somehow, because it repeated itself.
Maybe if it had a different narrator? I'm not sure I'm willing to read the next book in the series....

Histoire
Orphaned and besieged, Princess Alesandra knew that only hasty marriage to an Englishman could protect her from the turmoil in her own land. To the amusement of her makeshift guardian, Colin, younger brother of the Marquess of Cainewood, the bold raven-haired beauty instantly captivated London society. But when Alesandra was nearly abducted by her unscrupulous countrymen, the fighting instincts that won Colin a knighthood for valor were kindled. Deceiving himself that he wanted only to protect her, Colin swept her into a union meant to be a marriage in name alone...yet Alesandra's tender first kiss and hesitant caress ignited a wildfire in his soul.

I loved this series! But the new Narrator threw off the balance for me in this book. Just the pronunciation of the hero's name,Colin, made me irritated... I had a difficult time getting into the story because of the change of narrator. I was disappointed.
