Histoire
It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Mothers and children shopped together, and the manager at the video game store tended to customers. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever.

Potential never realized!
Évalué le: 2025-02-23
This story had one of the most annoying minor characters I've ever come across, the hippie cougar grandmother should not have been included in the plot and she was the reason why I took 1 star away from this review.
There were also other events that didn't add to the overall story development, but yet it was still included such as a house hunt, a dysfunctional relationship between two siblings, the adoption of a stray dog and a prank that involved toilet paper.
Overall, it had a great start, an amazing antagonist who deserved more page time, but it had a very disappointing, anticlimactic ending!
This is my first and LAST Nora Roberts book!

The Scourge killed two-thirds of the world's population and gave rise to a singular post-apocalyptic hero. Now, for the first time, experience The Traveler series through the words of the saga's protagonist, Marcus Battle.

After a year in the dark, America was finally on the rebound. Optimism soared as people imagined an end to the most difficult period in modern American history.

If you're hesitant about listening to any of Franklin Horton's work, DON'T. It's absolute gold! The characters are both memorable and well-developed. The only series you might want to stay clear of is the "Book of Dan" books, but all of the other Franklin Horton offerings such as the Mad Mick, Borrowed World and Locker Nine series are guaranteed amazing listens! I only wish that Franklin Horton could be cloned so that he can turn out twice the amount of content he's doing right now.

One of the best inanimate characters I have ever listened to is found in this book. Although the story's first half is a bit slow, it picks up pretty fast halfway through with the introduction of this character. You won't regret taking a chance on this first book.

All the reviews that say this 3rd instalment is the weakest are true, this story doesn’t compare to the first 2 books.

It was a 5 month slog just to get through this last book. So much potential from the first two that fizzles out with a whimper in book 3.

Histoire
It was a hard-learned lesson but Jim Powell finally understood that isolating his group of friends and family was no longer the best idea. It was a strategy that had once kept them safe, but lately seemed to be doing exactly the opposite. Staying out of town and away from people had led to them missing critical intelligence—that there were people in their community actively plotting against Jim.

Great new characters, but weak antagonists
Évalué le: 2022-07-08
Franklin Horton has a gift for creating amazing characters, but falls short in this title with regards to his antagonists who happen to be a trio of overaged antique dealers. The good news is that there's more books coming in this series and I will definitely be listening to them.

Dan Slaughter has given up on appearances. With his wife dead and his kids grown, he’s slowly reverting back to the east Tennessee boy he used to be three decades earlier. He quit cutting his hair and started smoking pot. He drinks when he wants to and sings along with the classic songs of his lost youth.

Avoid this Franklin Horton series!
Évalué le: 2022-06-20
By a long shot, the Way of Dan book series is the weakest amongst all of Horton's body of work. I'm a huge fan of the Borrowed World, Locker Nine and Mad Mick series and in fact, I proudly keep all of them in my library. Having finished them all, I was hoping that the Way of Dan would be just as good as the others, but this was not the case. I plan to only listen to book 1 because it doesn't hold a candle to all the others. If you'e new to Franklin Horton, try all of these other series first and avoid this like the plague!

Histoire
When a viral apocalypse kills 97 percent of the people on the planet, the survivors' humanity is hanging by a thread. Amid the leftovers of civilization, ex-Army Ranger Jason Larsen is reminded of the meaning of hope, family, and loyalty by a dog and a young boy who are as alone as he is. The survivors he seems to collect become family, and that is very bad news for those who think they run the apocalypse.

The potential was there, but it didn't pan out
Évalué le: 2021-03-20
If you've read Tom Abraham's 8 book "The Traveler's" series, you can't help but compare the 2 because they are very much similar, but this is as close as it gets because the overall quality and performance differs tremendously. I barely finished listening to book 1 and although there is a book 2 to the Seasons of Man series, I'm not going to listen to it.

Marcus Battle is tired of the world. And he's certain the world is tired of him. But when an old friend needs his help, he steps back into the violence and corruption he's fought for so long to avoid. A decade after he disappeared north of the wall that separated his Texas from the rest of what used to be his country, an oppressive government threatens the only people alive for whom he cares and who care about him.

A dip in the overall quality of this book series
Évalué le: 2020-02-09
Compared to books 1-6, Hero was a bit of a let down for me. A population police, an Underground Railroad and coyote human smugglers didn't quite compare to the memorable antagonists from past books. Hero took me much longer to slog through as I could only tolerate 30 minute chunks whereas with books 1-6, I gladly deprived myself of sleep to binge listen. Nevertheless, Kevin Pierce is one of my top 2 most favourite narrators and he doesn't disappoint.
