GREAT STORY
Évalué le: 2025-03-05
Anne Murray's story is amazing, but the typical Maritime calm drawl makes some of the story rather tedious. Also, the realizm of drugs and booze and everywhere, which makes her story even m ore compelling because we learn that all is not perfect in the life of Anne Murray. I think I would rather have read thtis book than listen

Histoire
The transition from President Donald J. Trump to President Joseph R. Biden Jr. stands as one of the most dangerous periods in American history. But as number one internationally best-selling author Bob Woodward and acclaimed reporter Robert Costa reveal for the first time, it was far more than just a domestic political crisis. Woodward and Costa interviewed more than 200 people at the center of the turmoil, resulting in more than 6,000 pages of transcripts - and a spellbinding and definitive portrait of a nation on the brink.

INSIGHTFUL
Évalué le: 2024-08-06
This book is both interesting and insightful. It causes one to ask why TRUMP continues to have followers woi seem to be more interested in him than in the good of the United States which he might totally destroy if reelected.

Histoire
Woodward, the number-one international bestselling author of Fear: Trump in the White House, has uncovered the precise moment the president was warned that the Covid-19 epidemic would be the biggest national security threat to his presidency. In dramatic detail, Woodward takes readers into the Oval Office as Trump’s head pops up when he is told in January 2020 that the pandemic could reach the scale of the 1918 Spanish Flu that killed 675,000 Americans.

AN MASTERPICE OF INFORMATION
Évalué le: 2024-06-19
This is an excellent book but it saddens me: this man may once again be President which says that we may be in for more hell. As Bill Mahr says, Trump is engaged in "slow coup".

Histoire
The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 dawned what Francis Fukuyama called “The End of History.” Three decades later, Jim Sciutto said on CNN’s air as the Ukraine war began, that we are living in a “1939 moment.” History never ended—it barely paused—and the global order as we have known it is now gone. Great powers are reinvigorated and determined to assert dominance on the world stage. And as it escalates, this new order will affect everyone across the globe.

Scary yet realistic
Évalué le: 2024-05-13
This book is excellent yet very scary. It is hard to imagine how Americans' can consider the current Republican candidate based upon the writing of Sciutto. There is no doubt in my mind that America, sadly, is on the decline and may soon be its own banana republic!

Five hundred years after Luther's now famous 95 Theses appeared, Eric Metaxas, acclaimed biographer of the best-selling Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy and Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery, paints a startling portrait of the wild figure whose adamantine faith cracked the edifice of Western Christendom and dragged medieval Europe into the future.

DISAPPOINTING
Évalué le: 2024-03-06
I had great expectations for this book considering the talents of the author. But, sadly, I found this book rather tedious and difficult. The author uses "big words" that, relatively often, required a visit to a dictionary. Beyond this, the author occasionally drifts off into rather lengthily side comments which distracted me from concentrating on Luther. Indeed, some of the side stories and comments may be worthy of their own book. I tired of the distractions and just gave up with sadness.

WONDERFU;, YET SAD, DETAILING
Évalué le: 2024-02-22
I had trouble of conceiving of two issues: money and family background. The family detail was excellent but it was sometimes hard to follow "the players". The more significant to me was her lack of money since she went into great deal of detail into needing a "pro bono" lawyer. The overall detail was amazing. Brien
