Histoire
On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

Oh my gosh! Beene Brown is so awesome
Évalué le: 2022-04-07
The way the Brené Brown dissects the way that vulnerability affects us all is completely on point.
I love the fact that it’s her speaking, in her way, where she pulls in examples of her own vulnerability, it makes her so relatable and trustable.
I highly recommend everyone listens to this audiobook

Histoire
The body of Gil Petty, America's most celebrated wine critic, is found strung up in a French Gaillac vineyard, dressed in the ceremonial robes of the Order of the Divine Bottle and pickled in wine. For forensic expert Enzo Macleod, the key to this unsolved murder lies in decoding Petty's mysterious reviews, which could make or break a vineyard's reputation. As he digs deeper for the motivation behind the shocking crime, Macleod finds that beneath the tranquil façade of French viticulture lurks a back-stabbing community characterized by a deadly rivalry.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Second in the Enzo files series and it was as enjoyable as the first.
His stories are also full of forensic tidbits and you actually learn things as you listen.
And as always I love Peter Forbes narration.

Divorced in Scotland and widowed in France, he has an estranged Scottish daughter and a French daughter he has raised by himself. Another Peter May gem!
Évalué le: 2020-12-10
I was hooked the moment I started reading the Lewis man...then read all that series. I couldn’t get enough. I’ll be listening to the Critic forthwith !!
Peter May’s novels are ever unfolding. From chapter to chapter the mysteries evolve and keep you listening intently. I loved every word if it.
And Peter Forbes had the best, most calming reading voice, with just the right amount of intensity, enthusiasm and energy, and makes attach to every character in the novel with alternating accents. He’s brilliant too.
I’m a serious fan.

Nantucket is only 11 miles away from Martha's Vineyard. But they may as well be worlds apart for estranged twin sisters Harper and Tabitha Frost. But the twins quickly discover that the secrets, lies, and gossip they thought they'd outrun can travel between islands just as easily as they can. Will Harper and Tabitha be able to bury the hatchet and end their sibling rivalry once and for all?

Brilliant and honest
Évalué le: 2020-07-15
The whole book is wonderful story of the struggles we face every day about racism.
It opened my eyes to a view on racism I didn’t see existed in myself, and so many others.
I highly recommend this book. I loved it.
I also appreciated Jodi’s words at the end of the book. Honest. True. And so on point.

Was a great story with lots of interesting stuff I didn’t know about elephants. Kept me attached the entire time. I love the way Jodi tells stories from multiple perspectives and how they all intertwine perfectly. Also made my heart hurt as her stories usually do, which is why I love her novels so much. Not saying anything else except the end will surprise you ;)

Two days before Christmas 1996, the broken, battered body of Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found outside her vacation home in West Cork, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. Decades later, no one has been charged with the murder, but the aggrieved inhabitants of West Cork are convinced they know who did it - and he still lives among them.

Write like a documentary....but gripping every step of the way
Évalué le: 2018-04-18
I loved it! Had me every step of the way. Obviously being a true story there's really no conclusion, but it was orchestrated in a way that keeps you listening. Only one criticism I have is that at every chapter I don't need to know what you told me at the beginning of each...As in this an audible original and I'm Jennifer Forde and I'm Sam Bungey... After chapter two, I know.... The journalists were careful to look at the story from many angles, so I didn't feel a bias within at all. Not a typical audiobook style, but refreshing for a change. Well worth a listen.
