Histoire
A siege is approaching, and the city has little time to prepare. The people have no food and no weapons, and the enemy has sworn to slaughter them all. To save the city will take a miracle, but what it has is Orhan. A colonel of engineers, Orhan has far more experience with bridge-building than battles, is a cheat and a liar, and has a serious problem with authority. He is, in other words, perfect for the job. Sixteen Ways To Defend a Walled City is the story of Orhan, son of Siyyah Doctus Felix Praeclarissimus, and his history of the Great Siege.

If an INTJ engineer of ancient Rome got to be boss... this book. Bending the believable but only enough to add flair.

Histoire
Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

Captivating Storytelling
Évalué le: 2020-11-16
A tale to make you believe in mysteries like the wonder of childhood. Moving from a whimsical scene setting introduction that I couldn't get enough of, to a deeper mystery that bridges worlds, the book was my go to entertainment until it was done. Susanna Clark is a supreme fairytale writer for novel-loving adultz. I would compare Piranesi to a tale combining elements of Neil Gaiman and Guy Gavriel Kay.

the best kind of advice for men in today's world

listening through this audiobook has transformed my relationship in the best of ways. if you are not sure about listening to it, all I can say is you owe it to yourself to give it a chance. while the choice of words and seen a little over the top, the underlying message and thinking is a breath of fresh air and a tome of wisdom
