Just ok

Story is ok. Awkward conversations that really don't flow well. Plummers voice for Reid is hard to listen to. Get tired if hearing Dani day "complications".

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Histoire
Smarting from her recently canceled wedding and about to turn forty, Laurie Sassalyn returns to her Maine hometown of Calcasset to handle the estate of her great-aunt Dot, a spirited adventurer who lived to be ninety-three. Alongside boxes of Polaroids and pottery, a mysterious wooden duck shows up at the bottom of a cedar chest. Laurie’s curiosity is piqued, especially after she finds a love letter to the never-married Dot that ends with the line “And anyway, if you’re ever desperate, there are always ducks, darling.”

Slow, odd ending, superb characters

Great narration. Characters are funny, literally laughed out loud at their sarcastic conversations. Book was slow hard to get into. Ending not my favorite.

Liked the book. Started to drag a bit with the constant inability of the characters to stand up for themselves or go after what they want. Overall cute book, with an unique twist.

Histoire
In a sleepy seaside town in Maine, recently widowed Eveleth "Evvie" Drake rarely leaves her large, painfully empty house nearly a year after her husband’s death in a car crash. Everyone in town, even her best friend, Andy, thinks grief keeps her locked inside, and Evvie doesn’t correct them. Meanwhile, in New York City, Dean Tenney, former Major League pitcher and Andy’s childhood best friend, is wrestling with what miserable athletes living out their worst nightmares call the "yips": he can’t throw straight anymore, and, even worse, he can’t figure out why.

Enjoyed the book. lovely characters, each broken in their own way. Was worth my time. I am not ready to let go of the characters and move onto a new book. Enjoyed their interactions with each other.
