Histoire
After Englishman John Blackthorne is lost at sea, he awakens in a place few Europeans know of and even fewer have seen—Nippon. Thrust into the closed society that is seventeenth-century Japan, a land where the line between life and death is razor-thin, Blackthorne must negotiate not only a foreign people, with unknown customs and language, but also his own definitions of morality, truth, and freedom.

Histoire
Brandi Carlile was born into a musically gifted, impoverished family on the outskirts of Seattle and grew up in a constant state of change, moving from house to house, trailer to trailer, 14 times in as many years. Though imperfect in every way, her dysfunctional childhood was as beautiful as it was strange, and as nurturing as it was difficult. At the age of five, Brandi contracted bacterial meningitis, which almost took her life, leaving an indelible mark on her formative years and altering her journey into young adulthood.

Just a great listen

As a casual fan of Brandi, I was interested in what this book would say but slightly worried it was for “true” fans. Well if you are at all a fan of her amazing writing and the stories her songs tell, you will love this book. Her narrating is smooth and engaging, and grabs you from her first words. This book is better than I had hoped and has had me recommending it to my wife and friends. A recommended listen for casual fans and hard core fans alike.

This author writes great historical fiction and this series about Caesar is a good story. I enjoyed the narrators delivery as well.
