Hey Slaycaters, normally we take you to a beautiful island, popular tourist destination or even on a cruise… and then something tragically bad happens. This episode is different. Today we’re taking you to the DPRK, aka The Hermit Kingdom, aka North Korea. Not known for being a popular tourist destination because, let’s face it, you’re not really allowed to go. However, that only made it more intriguing to young 22-year old Otto Wambier, who had a penchant for visiting global hotspots. By all accounts, his highly curated trip was going great — until it was time for his Young ...

This was a bit different type of episode and I really liked it - as much as all your other episodes. It's always interesting to hear your jokes and banter.

Needs to be louder.
Évalué le: 2025-04-14
I love every episode of Twisted Travel & True Crime. I like the calm soothing voice and I really miss the sound of the water against the sailboat.
So, speaking of sound, this episode was extremely quiet and hard to hear if I was doing anything around the house. The sound volume is way way too quiet.I want to be detailed in case it helps. It's not my phone; I listen to a different podcast or audiobook right before and right after yours and the sound is nice and loud enough. I don't know if it's something in the way the sound was recorded, or in the way it is edited but I'd really really love if this could be changed/fixed. I'm honestly getting frustrated; I like to do housework while listening and I can't. I've especially noticed this volume decrease since you came back after a break. Every episode for a while now, I've wanted to reply with this review, hoping you get to see it yourself.

TRIGGER WARNING: Talk of death by suicide OK Slaycaters, we know we say it a lot — the episode you’re about to hear is strange, mysterious, unexplainable, and/or just downright WTF! Interesting Crime
Évalué le: 2025-03-12
I was very interested in the story. I'd heard of it only briefly before this. Belle is nuts in my opinion (I don't mean mentally ill). How could she even possibly believe she had cancer if she never saw specialists at a hospital, had proper conventional imaging done, and had treatment options explained to her. She's full of deception and doesn't care one bit from the looks of it .Of course if all those nirmal procedures happened, of course anyone can still choose "no treatment" and they have that right . None of that happened with her and she's 100% full of sh*t from the get-go 💩. Now to the horrid part of her lies claims and scans..... the focus of her psycho case ..well you should definitely listen to this episode! And now I'm going to watch the Australian 29/20 episode which is "cringey" as AJ says 😅

On October 13, 1972, a chartered aircraft carrying forty-five passengers, including 19 members of the Old Christians’ Club rugby team, departed from Montevideo, Uruguay bound for Santiago, Chile. About an hour into the flight, the copilot incorrectly believed the plane had gotten off course and requested permission from air traffic control in Santiago to begin his descent and course correct. However, when the plane began descending out of the cloud cover, the copilot realized he’d been wrong about their position and were in fact dangerous close to the Andes mountains. The pilots attempted ...

Have read the book, but great to hear it!

The way the girls summarized this horrific event and extraordinary story of survival, determination, problem-solving and resilience was done with the utmost compassion. I've read the 1974 book "Alive" (by Piers Paul Read) at least twice. And I've read the later book written by Roberto Canessa (now a very renowned pediatric cardiologist) and also the book by Nando Parrado (who lost his mother and sister in the crash). These are the 2 men who climbed and hiked out of the mountains to find help to rescue the remaining people back at the plane. Amazing story. I certainly can't read all the books the girls recommend on other cases and episodes. This one is definitely excellent to pick up as it's full of hope and as they all worked on creating their own survival.

There's an easy fix. No problem, I just adjust the speed on my Audible app to maybe ~85%.
In an episode like this, filled with so many facts and details, it can be hard to absorb it when it's spoken quickly. This SHOULD NOT deter anyone. It's worth a listen
