Cher: The Memoir, Part One promises to be an engaging and exciting audiobook experience, befitting this incredible book. Read in part by Cher herself, the book is introduced, and each chapter launched, by the author. Rounding out each chapter as she continues the narrative is celebrated stage actor Stephanie J. Block. I loved her vulnerability and her honesty
Évalué le: 2024-12-02
I loved everything. I have been a Cher fan since The Sonny & Cher show started when I was 9. I loved that show and her outfits, hair and make up. I followed her through movie mags, talk shows, as there was no social media and thankfully my mom was a fan too, so she bought the magazines.
Listening to the book and being able to think I remember that skit, I remember that outfit, was cool. But also heartbreaking to find out in this book how she was feeling or being treated but still performing and entertaining us all.
I can't wait for the 2nd part.
Cher has always been down to earth, honest, funny, even while struggling sometimes and shown so much resilience through her life. Never staying down for long. I have seen her in concert in Calgary, Edmonton and Vegas. She will forever be my favorite celebrity! ❤️

Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

I thought the book was good. telling the intertwined tale of rich entitled woman and the couple of extras included from the salon.
The twist at the end was good.

Histoire
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

I thought it started slow but it soon changed. You get caught up in the characters as the story unfolds and some unexpected twists nearing the latter part of the book. I would recommend this to anyone liking mystery reads.

I found Paul's story very interesting
Évalué le: 2024-02-04
I loved this book. KISS was the 1st concert I saw when I was 14 in 1977 in Edmonton. I loved them every since and Paul Stanley was my favorite. When I saw this book I had to listen.
It was interesting to hear about his childhood, his fears and especially his growth! To hear of the disfunction between the band members and the struggle to keep them together and moving on was an eye opener. No one really thinks when you are watching a concert of what they may be dealing with behind the scenes.
From KISS to phantom of the opera, to his work with aboutface and painting. I loved hearing about his children and that he found what he was looking for in life with Erin.

Histoire
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

Daisy, Billy and Camilla relationship stood out the most, but all the characters had their own stories to tell. You get wrapped up in them. I loved the ending. That doesn't always happen in a good book.

The characters were great

I like how Taylor weaved the character's stories together and that there is mention of character's from other books. The story has love, tragedy, duty, growing and becoming who you were meant to be.

Histoire
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

I enjoyed this book so much. And getting to listen to it in Viola's voice made it so much better.
We are close to the same age and hearing what she endured growing up in comparison to my own childhood, which was so incredibly different, She was so vulnerable and open in this book, you got the good, the bad, and the even worse. You get to see her rise into the woman she is today.
She has done a wonderful job of this memoir.
I love her even more now! ❤️

Histoire
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Loved it!
Évalué le: 2023-02-01
I thought that this book was very well written. I loved that the author himself read the audible version. I am glad that Harry has found happiness with Meg and create a lovely family. I feel that he is correct when saying somebody needs to be accountable and those somebody's are the press more than anyone.
Some people will be very upset by this book because he is a Royal but all in all he is still a human being. I feel Harry does have a lot of his mother's qualities. I still remember turning on the TV and hearing of princess Diana's death all those years ago.
And hearing at the end of this story that he donated 1.5 million of the sales to Botswana for HIV research is incredible and also for the donation to children in the UK. He is using the money that he is making for good to make a difference in the world just as his mother would have done.
I truly hope that Harry and Meghan can move forward and just live a happy life, the life they want with their children.
