A great introduction to the American Revolution
Évalué le: 2023-01-01
This book gives the listener a broad insight into the revolution. It lays the groundwork as well as gives great detail about life in British North America before the revolution, thereby shedding light onto reasons for the actions of the revolutionaries. It does not mindlessly regurgitate high school level history, but rather it goes much deeper into the reasons for revolution. It does a great job of offering contrary views of the population instead ofjust the prevailing understanding of the war. Anyone wishing to gain a greater understanding about the American Constitution should avail themselves to this audiobook.

Language defines us as a species, placing humans head and shoulders above even the most proficient animal communicators. But it also beguiles us with its endless mysteries, allowing us to ponder why different languages emerged, why there isn't simply a single language, how languages change over time and whether that's good or bad, and how languages die out and become extinct.

According to polls conducted by Gallup and the Pew Research Forum on Religion & Public Life, the majority of Americans fail basic tests about religion, including tests on their own faith. This is troublesome because religious literacy is about so much more than naming deities or knowing the stories of ancient history. For many of us, religion is a way to examine and understand ourselves. These 24 enlightening lectures offer you the chance to experience the world's religions from all angles – historical, theological, and cultural.

Bertrand Russell's A History of Western Philosophy serves as the perfect introduction to its subject; it remains unchallenged as the greatest account of the history of Western thought. Charting philosophy's course from the pre-Socratics up to the early twentieth century, Russell relates each philosopher and school to their respective historical and cultural contexts, providing erudite commentary throughout his invaluable survey.

A great introduction to western philosophy
Évalué le: 2018-12-02
I had always ha a curiosity about this subject matter, but could not bring myself to read a tomb about it. Also the inquiry scammed as I was intimidated by the matter. This book makes no assumption if your previous knowledge about philosophy and present the topic in a chronological order allowing you to create a solid mental picture of the evolution of philosophy. The author presents his own opinions where logical and allows the reader to form their own opinion from the information presented. The narrator is very enjoyable and his tone makes you just want to keep on listening.
