À propos de cet audio
The popular, powerful guide to help parents regain control over a defiant child or teenager...
Occasional clashes between parents and children are not uncommon, but when defiant behavior-including tantrums, resistance to chores, and negativity-becomes chronic, it causes big problems within the family. In 10 Days to a Less Defiant Child, family and child psychologist Dr. Jeffrey Bernstein shares a groundbreaking 10-day program to help parents understand their child's behavior and regain control of their household.
In this updated edition, parents will learn how to face new challenges, including defiance resulting from excessive technology use (even to the point of addiction) and the stress of modern family life. Dr. Bernstein explains what causes defiance in kids and why it's so destructive to the family, then offers parents a step-by-step guide on how to reduce conflict and end upsetting behaviors.

Dr. Ross Greene, a distinguished clinician and pioneer in the treatment of kids with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, has worked with thousands of explosive children, and he has good news: these kids aren't attentionseeking, manipulative, or unmotivated, and their parents aren't passive, permissive disciplinarians. Rather, explosive kids are lacking some crucial skills in the domains of flexibility/adaptability, frustration tolerance, and problem solving, and they require a different approach.

We can not raise a happy child if we are constantly screaming threats at them. No parent sets out to hurt their child, but this type of parenting does just that. To raise a happy child that wants to behave, you need to retrain yourself first. You need to change the way you think and react to their behavior. You need to understand your triggers and heal yourself. Only then you can begin to heal your relationship with your children.

Raising children is never an easy task; as many parents will tell you, it is a lifetime commitment and one that can sometimes be thankless. Now, raising a neurodivergent child makes parenting several times more challenging. Neurodivergence is the difference in brain function from what we consider standard or typical. A neurodivergent child shows different mental characteristics from what would be considered typical, called neurotypical. ODD and ADHD are two examples of neurodivergent disorders that are common among the population.

Many of us know we're putting too much pressure on our kids - and on ourselves - but how do we get off this crazy train? We want our children to succeed, to be their best, and to do their best, but what if they are not on board? A few years ago, Ned Johnson and Bill Stixrud started noticing the same problem from different angles: even high-performing kids were coming to them acutely stressed and lacking any real motivation. Many complained that they had no real control over their lives.

Excellent!
I feel that every parent should read this book! I have a degree in child development, have taught for 17 years in early childhood, was known as a calm, patient and understanding teacher and I was still able to learn some valuable strategies to use with my developmentally appropriately ‘defiant’ 4 year old daughter. Even though her defiance was developmentally appropriate, I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing to help her through this stage of her development.. I am so glad I did because I feel even more calm and peaceful with my parenting and my daughter is even more cooperative than before. It is true that this works wonders and is applicable to all children. I wish that all parents and teachers would read this book because I do believe engaging with children in this way creates healthy, happy children and I feel this can help our world at large. As we help nurture emotional regulation in our children one family at a time we bring peace into the world. Also the author is very compassionate, understanding and non judgemental to parents too so you don’t have to worry about feeling bad for some human mistake you have made, we all make mistakes and are learning in this huge journey of parenting. This information will only empower you to become a better and more compassionate parent and person while watching your child blossom into their true cooperative and peaceful nature which is intrinsic to us all and can blossom with the right nourishment.
