À propos de cet audio

Henry Bins has Henry Bins.
A sleeping disorder, named after him.
He is awake for one hour a day.
He wakes up at 3 a.m. then falls asleep at 4 a.m.
Life is simple.
Until he hears the woman scream.
And sees the man leave the house across the street.
But not just any man.
The president of the United States.

I'm on book 3 of this series, and enjoying the author's imagination and sense of humour. He's quite good at creating an unbelievable but entertaining story in a very short audiobook.

Short and Sweet

There are some interesting ideas in this Nick Pirog short. 'Henry Bins' lives life for one hour per day: falling into a coma at 4:00AM and awakening at 3:00AM the next day. During that one waking hour, he makes thousands of dollars eTrading, develops a relationship with a "talking" cat, and solves crimes (yes, nothing is open at Three AM - you can't actually conduct interviews at local businesses in the middle of the night - but *wink-wink* go with it).
The prose/vocabulary is acceptable, the dialogue is decent, and the quick pace is appreciated.. but the result is so "Scooby-Doo" silly, that I couldn't wait for it to conclude so I could start listening to something else.

Reader Jamie Renell is a well above-average performer. He takes injudicious deep breaths during his delivery and displays a couple of subpar character interpretations - but his performance is the best feature of this recording.

Altogether, I can't rate '3:00 AM' any higher than 2/10-stars. I had been planning on continuing with the series, but it's simply too sophomoric and I don't trust Pirog as a serious writer for this character. Try the 'Thomas Prescott' books. Pass on this one.
