The Governor needs someone to unite the backcountry, pacify the seething resentments of the settlers, and keep the mountains safe for King and Crown. Jamie Fraser, everyone agrees, is the man for the job. But Jamie knows what is to come.
His wife, Claire, has travelled back in time from the twentieth century, and she knows that it's only a matter of a few years before the start of the War of Independence, ending with the exile or death of the men loyal to the King of England.
Neither prospect appeals to Jamie. Beyond everything else, though, looms the threat of a tiny clipping from The Wilmington Gazette, dated 1776, which reports the destruction of the house on Fraser's Ridge, and the death by fire of James Fraser and all his family. Jamie hopes Claire is wrong, for once, about the future—but only time will tell.

The best!
I love Outlander! This was a great story with the usual 1000 stories overlapping to make an amazing narrative tapestry. I loved how the accents were captured in the audio.

love this series
What a great voice. Includes accents and differentiates between characters.You always know which character is talking just by the tone of voice and accent she uses. #Audible1

A great next story in the series
I thought this was a fantastic next book in the series. Lots of character and plot growth. Davina Porter did a fantastic job narrating. I love how you can tell who is speaking in the book based on the character voices she has developed. I own all the books in the series but I've already bought the next two on audible as well because I love listening while I'm working. A great "read".

Amazing performance on the series!
Davina Porter performance on the co.plete series is just amazing. I am.not much for the romance parts on the book but I enjoy Gabaldon's detailed/descriptive writting, the historical value of her series and how she interlaces fiction. At times during the series where the stories lacks for me the performer just got me through . Picking up the next one!

Love the series! Excellent narration!
Since reading Outlander I was hooked with Diana's incredible writing. But aside from that I have to say that the narrator is absolutely outstanding! After listening to another book simular in style I realized how spoiled I have become listening to the last 5 books with Davina. She delivers every character with such individuality. I never wonder who is talking since she gives each character their own tone and/or accent. Amazing series! Amazing narration!

The different voices.
