great period story
I wasn't sure I'd like this story....but I did narrator was good at different voices
not much swearing either which I also liked

A beautiful romance and a delightful narration
I was already a big fan of KJ Charles' work. She delivers once again a beautiful and suspenseful romance. Definitely worth a read!
I was hesitant to pick the audiobook instead of the written version, but, dear god, am I happy to have picked it up. The narration is amazing. Matthew Lloyd Davies does a great job of giving each character a distinct voice and of transmitting the emotion. The performance really adds intensity, so do yourself a favor and try it!

Engaging story, beautiful romance of two people
I acknowledge the narrator's dedication in keeping the characters separate through the way he speaks, it really did give the audiobook a little extra. The romance in the story was splendid, and I love how the story ties into different stories that will be upcoming and gives depth to this world that KJ Charles has created. Can't wait to listen to the next one, I'll be sure to wear more loose fitting knickers... oh heavens! lol.

K.J Charles & Mathew L Davies are a perfect match!
I have read and loved KJ Charles for years. Discovering this series (and others) in audiobook format has allowed me to enjoy these books all over again as if new. Mathew L Davies has become one of my favourite naarotors. Perfect match!

Quite Splendid!
After two attempts to read this on my kindle, I was delighted to see if offered by Audible Plus. I just had to get to chapter 3 and was thoroughly hooked!
I found the initial premise of the first two characters a simple set up, high born young man discovered working in the slums of London, who is tutored in the ways of high class regency England. But it is more than that. While it missed the humourous wit from the Magpie series, I found I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and was fascinated by the background of the perils of the "seditious" politicial press.
And the narration was spot on!
Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Extremely average
Enjoyable enough, though the plot made no sense and was full of deus ex machinas and childish "good guys win, bad guys lose" resolutions.
