À propos de cet audio
In this book, Corey Taylor undertakes something never before attempted in the history of rock superstardom: he takes you with him as he journeys undercover through various ghostbusting groups who do their best to gather information and evidence about the existence of spirits. Some are more credible than others, and, frankly, some are completely insane, but all are observed with appropriate seriousness as Taylor attempts to better understand some of the spooky things that have happened to him in his life, especially that night at the Cold House.
But that's not all, folks. Taylor once again gives you a behind-the-scenes tour of his crazy life and the many beyond-the-grave events he's encountered. (You'll be shocked how often Slipknot has been invaded by the supernatural). Taylor also touches on his religious background and how it led him to believe in much more than the Man in the Sky.

Histoire
For the first time, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor speaks directly to his fans and shares his worldview about life as a sinner. And Taylor knows how to sin. As a small-town hero in the early '90s, he threw himself into a fierce-drinking, drug-abusing, hard-loving, live-for-the-moment life. Soon Taylor's music exploded, and he found himself rich, wanted, and on the road. His new and ever-more-extreme lifestyle had an unexpected effect, however; for the first time, he began to actively think about what it meant to sin.

Histoire
In the tradition of the late, great George Carlin, Corey Taylor, the lead singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour, sounds off in hilarious fashion about the many vagaries of modern life that piss him off. Whether it's people's rude behavior in restaurants and malls, the many indignities of air travel, eye-searingly terrible fashion choices, dangerously clueless drivers, and - most of all - the sorry state of much modern music, Taylor's humor and insight cover civil society's seeming decline.

Histoire
The always-outspoken hard rock vocalist Corey Taylor begins America 51 with a reflection on what his itinerant youth and frequent worldwide travels with his multiplatinum bands Slipknot and Stone Sour have taught him about what it means to be an American in an increasingly unstable world. He examines the way America sees itself, specifically with regard to the propaganda surrounding America's origins (like a heavy-metal Howard Zinn) while also celebrating the quirks and behavior that make a true-blue American.

When this best-selling autobiography was originally released, everyone was shocked: The Long Hard Road Out of Hell was the darkest, funniest, most controversial and best-selling rock book of its time - and it became the template, both visually and narratively, for almost every rock book since. Marilyn Manson is not just a music icon, it turned out, but one of the best storytellers of his generation.

Raised in Dublin, Ireland, in a devoutly Catholic family, Rebecca Quin constantly invented new ways to make her mother worry—roughhousing with the neighborhood kids, hosting secret parties while her parents were away, enrolling in a warehouse wrestling school, nearly breaking her neck and almost kneecapping a WWE star before her own wrestling career even began—and she was always in search of a thrilling escape from the ordinary.

Serj Tankian will be the first to admit that his band, System of a Down, was “unlikely a chart-topper as had ever existed in modern music history: a band of Armenian-Americans playing a practically unclassifiable clash of wildly aggressive metal riffs, unconventional tempo-twisting rhythms, and Armenian folk melodies, with me alternately growling, screaming, and crooning lyrics that could pivot from avant-garde silliness to raging socio-political rants in the space of a single line.” After all, as Serj concedes, “it’s not easy listening.”

Titles won't do it justice, just dive in.
What a fantastic mix of subject matter! I came across this book from an interview he participated in, and was expecting it to simply be a collection of his spooky experiences.
It's much more than that. It's intelligent, thoughtful, funny (actual snorts, chuckles and smiles well scattered throughout from me while listening) and yes, even a few spoopy shudders.
Having Corey read what he wrote definitely imparts the right feel for the book. I don't think anyone else could have pulled off the very plainly written personality on paper quite like the Great Big Mouth himself. (the sheer and varied amount of euphemisms for poopy pants, buttholes and more was amazing and I most certainly plan on co-opting some of his colourful exclamations for my daily life. Like calling someone a dick duster. That's *definitely* happening in the near future.)
It's playful and provoking. I know he's a smart man, but I wasn't expecting a genuine and plausible equation for "intelligent energy"!
(Also, that term in and of itself to describe what "ghosts" are, is really cool to me and is definitely accurate to how he speaks on his experiences and thought process)
It's so, so grounded despite also being written by a highly caffeinated man with unmanaged ADD. Meaning that you get these incredible life lesson gems, tidbits of his life, the stories of the intelligent energy he and others experienced, and absolutely sideways tangents where both reader and listener sort of forget what they were talking about to begin with.
If it were anyone else I don't think it would work, but it does here. It makes sense and he asks some very excellent and thought provoking questions that may indeed be answered one day.
I fully plan on listening again, and again.
