À propos de cet audio
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic metabolic condition that is the result of the body’s inability to properly regulate its use of glucose (sugar) as a means of energy.
The glucose that is prevalent in your blood is derived from the foods that you have consumed, acting as a primary energy source that carries you through your day-to-day life. Insulin, a hormone that is created and output by the pancreas (and the helpful friend of glucose), is responsible for aiding glucose with being absorbed into the cells of the body, and thus, providing you with energy.
With type 2 diabetes, the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or it does not use insulin effectively enough to regulate blood sugar levels. As a result, insulin-mediated shots or oral medications may need to be administered in order to properly regulate the body.
Here is a helpful guide to understanding and learning how to live with type 2 diabetes.
