À propos de cet audio
The New York Times best-selling author of the brilliantly inventive The Word Is Murder and The Sentence Is Death returns with his third literary whodunit featuring intrepid detectives Hawthorne and Horowitz.
When ex-detective inspector Daniel Hawthorne and his sidekick, author Anthony Horowitz, are invited to an exclusive literary festival on Alderney, an idyllic island off the south coast of England, they don’t expect to find themselves in the middle of murder investigation - or to be trapped with a cold-blooded killer in a remote place with a murky, haunted past.
Arriving on Alderney, Hawthorne and Horowitz soon meet the festival’s other guests - an eccentric gathering that includes a best-selling children’s author, a French poet, a TV chef turned cookbook author, a blind psychic, and a war historian - along with a group of ornery locals embroiled in an escalating feud over a disruptive power line.
When a local grandee is found dead under mysterious circumstances, Hawthorne and Horowitz become embroiled in the case. The island is locked down, no one is allowed on or off, and it soon becomes horribly clear that a murderer lurks in their midst. But who?
Both a brilliant satire on the world of books and writers and an immensely enjoyable locked-room mystery, A Line to Kill is a triumph - a riddle of a story full of brilliant misdirection, beautifully set-out clues, and diabolically clever denouements.

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

As a matter of routine, or so it seems, the case passes across the desk of Detective Sergeant Smith, recently returned to work after an internal investigation into another case that has led to tensions between officers at Kings Lake police headquarters. As an ex-DCI, Smith could have retired by now, and it is clear that some of his superiors wish that he would do so.

I love this series!
I love this series. This newest book is funny, engaging, and twisty. A great story. I still know nothing about Hawthorne, so I hope there is a fourth book so Horowitz can really flesh him out!

Disappointing Addition to a Stellar Series
As a devoted fan of Anthony Horowitz's gripping mystery series, I eagerly anticipated diving into "A Line to Kill: A Novel." However, to my dismay, this installment felt like a misstep in an otherwise outstanding collection of novels.
One of the most glaring issues with "A Line to Kill" was its rushed and poorly planned narrative. Unlike its predecessors, which carefully crafted intricate plots and developed multi-dimensional characters, this novel felt hastily thrown together. The pacing was off, and the storyline lacked the depth and complexity that I've come to expect from Horowitz's work.
Furthermore, "A Line to Kill" seemed more like a filler novel than a seamless fit into the series. Instead of adding depth to the overarching story arc or further developing the characters, it felt disconnected and inconsequential. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was reading a story that was merely filling space rather than contributing meaningfully to the series as a whole.
Ultimately, while "A Line to Kill" may hold some appeal for die-hard fans of the series, it falls short of living up to its predecessors. It lacks the polish and sophistication that made the previous books so captivating, and I couldn't help but feel that I would miss nothing by skipping this installment entirely. For those who have been following the series faithfully, "A Line to Kill" may leave you wanting more – but not necessarily in a good way.
