À propos de cet audio
Audie Award, History/Biography, 2016
This acclaimed portrait of heroism and ingenuity captures a watershed moment in human history. The astronauts themselves have called it the definitive account of their missions. On the night of July 20, 1969, our world changed forever when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon. Based on in-depth interviews with 23 of the 24 moon voyagers, as well as those who struggled to get the program moving, A Man on the Moon conveys every aspect of the Apollo missions with breathtaking immediacy and stunning detail.

Ignore the guy who said the narration sucks
Chaikin's attention to detail and to narrative is superb for space program nerds, but the real gem of this is Pinchot's reading, which is some of the very best I've come across in an audiobook. Clear, measured, and yet rather than being a dead monotone, the reading is infused with expressiveness that brings the voices alive, and marvels at one of humankind's most incredible achievements with sense of wonder that is fully deserved. If you think the reading is too expressive and this is somehow a detraction from the story and the science for you, then you completely missed the part in the preface where Chaikin argues that Apollo was as much an artistic endeavour as it was a scientific pinnacle, comparing it to Michaelangeo's Sistine Chapel paintings. But if the story is as much part of the magic of Apollo for you as the science, then you will enjoy this uncommonly (for a nonfiction piece) animated reading very much.

Great Story, Painful Naration
Love the story, but it was painful listening to the narator. If this was a book of poems or a love story the naration would have been fine but this was a book about the Apollo Space Missions. The use of impressions and dramatic long pauses ruined a great story.
