A BLANDFORD CANDY OMNIBUS
THE LAST ROUNDHEAD
1642.
England has been plunged into a Civil War.
Blandford Candy is sent to London, after an illicit affair, and joins the Roundhead army to fight against the King, taking part in the Battle of Edgehill.
A reluctant hero if ever there was one, he becomes a spy for the cause - and, through luck or judgement, uncovers more than one Royalist plot. His love of wine and the fairer sex prove both a curse and a blessing for the agent.
Blandford soon earns the enmity of the King’s spy mistress Jane Whorwood, and patronage of the great parliamentarian leader John Hampden.
As well as navigating the politics and perils of the Civil War Blandford must also deal with members of his family, who turn out to be to be far more duplicitous and ruthless than any rival agent.
To survive, Blandford must choose a side.
THIS DECEITFUL LIGHT
1643.
Blandford Candy, rake and spy, returns to London to find a brutal murderer at large. He is ordered to find the killer by Parliament’s Scoutmaster General.
Our reluctant hero uncovers a web of deceit in the highest corridors of power, and searches for evidence that could condemn the richest men in England to death.
He comes to the attention of upcoming general, Oliver Cromwell, as his investigation takes him to the bloody battlefield of Marston Moor.
But only one man can help – Sir John Hurry. A man Blandford has sworn to kill.
As well as navigating the politics and perils of the Civil War Blandford must also deal with his duplicitous and ruthless brother, now a rival agent for the King.
Who can Blandford trust with enemies on both sides of the conflict?
OF BLOOD EXHAUSTED
1644.
England burns with Civil War.
Blandford Candy, rake and spy, is sent to Amsterdam to investigate missing weapons shipments.
He finds himself drawn into a hunt for a deadly assassin, as he discovers a twisted plot with international implications.
With his inimitable style, Blandford earns the favour of Princess Sophia of Hannover as he deals with infamous French agents, and uncovers a dark crime that could lead to personal, dire consequences.
Back in England, Cromwell’s radicals seize power and create a new army. Blandford finds his loyalties divided as the war comes to a brutal conclusion at the Battle of Naseby.
Keep your friends close and enemies closer.
