I have never been more sexually frustrated by a book haha. The story is compelling and addicting. I finished it in 2 days. And now I’m going to go get the rest of the series! Also the performance is *chefs kiss*

Needed a cold shower afterwards.

At first I was quite irritated by what direction I thought the plot was going to take. I was happily surprised and relieved that I was very wrong. This retelling beautifully shows the lust, passion and love between Hades and Persephone. I loved the tidbits of other greek myths throughout the book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Greek Mythology (and someone who doesn’t mind some “smutty” scenes) and to anyone who loves a good Romance. I am looking forward to reading the next books in the series.

Decent Smut for Greek Mythology Fans...

...but I feel like I could have used those 11 hours of my life very differently. Oh, and Hades isn’t a god, he’s a SAINT for putting up with Persephone. I said what I said.

Plot:
The plot was interesting, but the execution was lacking. There were miscommunications and bad decisions after bad decisions just to create unnecessary conflicts and drama, sex scenes that felt forced (no chemistry whatsoever!), feelings that were impossible to believe in. My favourite parts always took place in the underworld, and I wish we’d been treated to more of that instead of repetitive arguments, unnecessary female rivalry, and childish behaviour without consequences.

Characters:
Dull and duller. Persephone is the typical one-brain-cell ingénue-but-yet-super-sexy sensitive-and-compassionate-yet-annoyingly-confrontational brat with the personality of a chickpea. I mean, Hades literally tells her at some point that she’s a sheep who never makes decisions for herself. And she keeps getting in trouble due to silly choices and needlessly reckless behaviour. On the other hand, Hades is another typical FMC-obsessed misunderstood shadow daddy. I liked him and thought he could have done much better than Persephone. Adonis and Minthe are the typical unilateral villains with no substance whatsoever. In the end, Lexa and Hecate had more personality and presence than all other characters combined. But still, it annoyed me that Lexa was the standard, stereotyped sassy best friend. Bottom line: I didn’t care about one single character, so it was very very hard to be invested in their struggles and the overall storyline.

Writing:
This is usually where I get the most critical, but for this one it was actually the opposite. I liked the worldbuilding and thought the descriptions were very creative and evocative. Oh, the smut was also quite good. A little repetitive (e.g., the word “shaft”) and unrealistic (e.g., Persephone’s a virgin, but she always knows what to do and DTs right away). But hot.

Audio deets:
The voice actors were great! The actress for Persephone had such a soothing voice, I could have listened to her all day. She was also good at changing her voice for other characters. I think I might have DNFed if this wasn’t an audiobook.

So there you go. I won’t be reading the rest of the series, or listening to it.

It's cute, but missing a lot.

I overall enjoyed it. The story itself had a lot of gaps and missing plot points. Persephone made A LOT of dumb choices where you are just confused on why she can't just properly explain and instead acts like immature teen meanwhile she is hundreds of years old at this point. Her interactions with Adonis were just Bleh.
Meg Sylvan did a great job and the characters had great emotions and the intimacy scenes were really captivating because of her. Unfortunately the Hades counterpart falls flat and emotionless. Read like an AI, and was just hard to listen too, But the bonus chapter was really nice, after the office scene in a touch of darkness there is an additional scene that makes it feel more complete in the hades book.

Easy fast read

The narration was really good, I loved the storyline. It was super fast paced and over all I really enjoyed it!

I’m not even finished the book and it’s a 5 star for me

First of all this is a sexy book with a plot line retelling the classic Hades x Persephone story. I really love the characters, even though Hades is, to me, a little bit flat in terms of personality, but still definitely hot. I’m not even finished the book yet and it’s a 5 star review for me already. I can’t wait to read the second book. Also the narrator does a fantastic job!

Old brought into the new

Adored this look on the relationship of Hades and Persephone. I would definitly read again.

Pleasantly surprised!

I was hesitant in starting this book, but keep hearing so many great reviews thought I would give it a go. And was pleasantly surprised when I rather enjoyed it. A great read for those just starting to fable I’m romantasy and great perspective on these Greek gods! Definitely recommend.

Good light reading for week nights!

Just finished 3rd book of “a touch of…” series and it is a good light reading! I liked the idea of gods in modern society. 1rst book, great, loved it! 2nd book, I realllyyyy had a hard time to finish it. Persephone is not likeable, but I really wanted to like her, she makes all the worst choices, rarely say “please” “thank you”, she demands! But then I thought it was the caracter that just has to go over some sort of maturing and I kept going. 3rd book I enjoyed it a hole lot more my so it makes up! I’ll read the final book soon.

Then, I wouldn’t choose to read this series from Hades POV “a game of…” it would be reliving this hole story again. Maybe it is most fun to choose 1 POV series from the beginning and enjoy the simple reading on week nights instead of Netflix!

amazing narration
