In Affliction, Abrahams tells the story of a mysterious team of researchers, four college friends, an ex-con, a lonely fry cook, and a secretive group of prepared civilians as they each battle to survive in southern California after an outbreak of a new, deadly disease with no known cure.

I dunno.

The author can write well, the narrator can describe well, but these books just didn't grab me. The premise is interesting yet it lacks - at least for me - the depth I expect from apocalyptic scenarios: I anticipate a punch in the face, not a pat on the back when the world is coming to an end. Just saying...
