À propos de cet audio
NATIONAL BESTSELLER
"It will break your heart and nourish your soul. . . . Her finest novel yet." —Nigella Lawson
From internationally bestselling author Marian Keyes comes the eagerly awaited sequel to Rachel's Holiday. Prepare to laugh and cry by turns with Rachel and the Walsh family.
Back in the long ago nineties, Rachel Walsh was a mess.
But a spell in rehab transformed everything. Life became very good, very quickly. These days, Rachel has love, family, a great job as an addiction counsellor, she even gardens. Her only bad habit is a fondness for expensive sneakers.
But with the sudden reappearance of a man she'd once loved, her life wobbles.
She'd thought she was settled. Fixed forever. Is she about to discover that no matter what our age, everything can change?
Is it time to think again, Rachel?

After her editor tells her she needs to "up the spice" in her books (literally Amber's worst nightmare...), she is at a crossroads of what to do with her career. When the opportunity arises to go on a writer's retreat at an exclusive château in the beautiful French Alps, Amber reluctantly agrees, hoping a change of scenery will help with inspiration. While she tries and fails to spice up her writing - with the unhelpful guidance of the eccentric romance writers at the château - she meets two leading men who cause her own real-life romantic comedy to unfold.

Histoire
Lucy Sullivan is 26 and living it up (and occasionally down) in London. Hers is a life of quiet, undisciplined desperation. But when she and three friends visit a psychic for a bit of fun and the woman's predictions start coming true, Lucy is horrified. For the fortune-teller insisted she'd soon be married - within the year, in fact. Not only does Lucy not have a boyfriend, but the chances of getting one are looking slim. Between the bottles of wine, antidepressants and her addiction to self-help books, she's not quite ready to walk, or even stumble, down the aisle sober.

Posy Fairweather is over the moon when her boyfriend Matt proposes in what is probably the most romantic way possible—on top of a mountain, in a thunderstorm, like something from a Nicholas Sparks novel. But a few days later he dumps her. Crushed and humiliated, Posy wonders why all her romances have always been such train wrecks. Determined to gain some insight, Posy resolves to get online, track down her exes, and ask them. Which doors from Posy’s past should stay closed? Which might open? Can she learn from past mistakes?

A sophisticated, pause-resisting double love story spanning 40 years-an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times. It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply "B", asking her to leave her husband. Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives.

Ce que les critiques en disent
"A witty and warm-hearted sequel. ... Effortlessly segueing from tragedy to comedy. ... A novel replete with beautifully well-rounded secondary characters. ... Again, Rachel has all of Keyes's trademark wit, humour and whip-smart dialogue, but it's also a novel teeming with compassion and redemption."—The Observer
"Simply superb. ... [Keyes] is hands down the funniest writer in the business."—The Irish Times
"Keyes delivers punchy home truths with wit and charm. ... Keyes's beady-eyed observations and sparky, sweary dialogue ... lighten another agonisingly painful story. There is a real genius to the way Keyes brings deep, awful truths to the surface. The plotting is more skillfully turned than in Rachel's Holiday, and Keyes's ability to keep the balance between realism and fantasy works like a kind of fairy charm. ... Keyes has mastered the art of writing books that read like treats, but turn out to be good for you."—The Telegraph

Serious topics handled with care.
Humour, sensitivity and lovable characters made this a long but thoroughly enjoyable investment of time.
Even more realistic was hearing from the author herself at the end of the story.

One of the best stories I’ve listened to
I’m not sure what it is about this character and her story but I adore her. This follow up book is heart wrenching, emotional and deep while also maintaining a lighthearted and funny tone. Truly a character I will miss!

Rachel revisited
So beautifully written. The best Marion Keyes book since Rachel’s Holiday.
Marion Keyes is correct; we care about the Walsh family- especially Rachel- and she has done her justice.

So good to meet up with Rachel and the Clan Walsh again. It’s like visiting old friends. And to have the legend herself read it to me was priceless. Thank you. A million times.

Delightful, Well Written, Fresh
Wonderful addition to the story of Rachel Walsh. It feels like I’ve aged with Rachel and found her life at this time relatable in ways once again. I love how the story all comes together and the filling in of years past. Keyes has evolved in her creative writing, all while upholding the signature experience of trauma and love, laughter, friendship and family. Love you Marian Keyes!

Good story but…
I liked this book. Not as much as Rachel’s Holiday but it was still a solid and entertaining book. I do wish they had used a different narrator. Marian Keyes was ok at narrating but not great and it detracts from the book. With her other audiobooks I’ve been pulled deeply into the story because the narration makes it seem so real, but not with this time.

Incredibly Boring
Let me start by saying that I am usually a huge Marian Keyes fan. I’ve read all of her books and have enjoyed them immensely. This book, however, is frankly very boring. The incredibly slow progression of the plot is painful. There is a long list of characters who are introduced and described so painstakingly by Rachel that 1) I cannot remember who all these people are and how they are all linked 2) their specific details don’t seem to add much to the story or progress the plot 3) the book seems a bit frenetic, jumping all over the place. Incredibly, this audiobook is over 17 hours long. After 3 hours of listening, all I can tell you is that Rachel has a good memory and is trying to decide if she should go to her ex-MIL’s funeral. That’s all that has happened. I am not one to never finish a book, but I just cannot waste anymore of my time listening to this one. I’m really disappointed as I loved Rachel’s Holiday and was looking forward to hearing more of Rachel’s story. Maybe reading it would have been better?
