À propos de cet audio
This seminal work of nonfiction recounts the new, journalistic mass movement of today. Compiled from more than a decade of investigative reporting, coupled with a vast reference of philosophical research, American Muckraker is the definitive guide of truth-telling in the video age.
On power
They do have tremendous power. But in part, it is because we give it to them. We are nothing, but we are not alone. Awe cannot live in fear. The moment you stop caring about what the media establishment thinks of you is the moment you become truly free.
On insiders
The USPS whistleblower, a Marine Corps combat veteran, said, “I would rather be back in Afghanistan, getting shot at by Afghans, honest to God, than be interrogated by federal agent Russell Strasser," who coerced him by saying, “I am trying to twist you a little bit, because your mind will kick in.... I am not scaring you, but I am scaring you.”
On privacy
The right to record is closely tied to the right to speak, or even to take contemporaneous notes about what one sees and hears. As 60 Minutes producer Don Hewitt quipped, “People committing malfeasance don’t have any right to privacy.... What are we saying - that Upton Sinclair shouldn’t have smuggled his pencil in?”
On means and ends
Whereas the novelist Ernest Hemingway said, “What is moral is what you feel good after, and what is immoral is what you feel bad after,” Thomas B. Morgan of the 1960s New Journalism contends, “Morally defensible journalism is rarely what you feel good about afterward; it is only that which makes you feel better than you would otherwise.”
On litigation
“Polling does not decide the truth nor speak to evidence.... The New York Times have not met their burden to prove that Veritas is deceptive....claiming protections from an upstart competitor armed with a cell phone and a website. There is a substantial basis in law to proceed, to permit Project Veritas, to conduct discovery into The New York Times.” (Project Veritas v. New York Times Company; New York Supreme Court, March 18, 2021)

It's Good Stuff
Pretty interesting and reflective, regardless of what your feelings about O'Keefe's style, methods and/or the political persuasions you associate him with are. Towards the end O'Keefe stumbles in his reading performance a bit, but it's worth it to hear the book read in his voice.
Personally I tend to agree with O'Keefe that what he and his colleagues are doing is important work, but even if you don't it's worth hearing his full-throated argument for why it is. You can't deny the significance his outfit has in modern public discourse. Quite frankly, the way the cathedral treats him is itself evidence that something important is going on at Project Veritas.

Very pertinent to our times.
Jame is very on point and factual. It's amazing how people can't believe what their eyes and ears tell them. Especially when it's coming from the horse's mouth and the horse thinks he isn't telling you.

very informative.
Started off very dry and confusing. once the "" chapters started to be specific then the narrative was easier to follow.

Awesome read! Thank you!
I am fairly new to PV, about 1.5 years. Although I am Canadian , I try not to pay more attention to USA politics & media than I do Canadian content. However, how can you not LOVE Project Varitas & what they stand for! You guys are true Patriots!!!

Lots of great information; could be slimmer
I really appreciate the topics being covered James has lots of potential. I look forward to him growing into his literary self. But unfortunately, this book reads in parts as a muckraker manifesto. It could have almost been two books. The stand alone achievements of Project Veritas and then O'Keefe's superhero origin story with personal gripes and ego reinforcement.
Don't get me wrong, love what he's doing. Just looking very very forward to his growth and evolution into an indomitable conveyor of his truth.
(Also, sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom. Sorry buddy ♡)
