À propos de cet audio

It’s been over six months since the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano. Alex and Darla have been staying with Alex’s relatives, trying to cope with the new reality of the primitive world so vividly portrayed in Ashfall, the first book in this trilogy.

It’s also been six months of waiting for Alex’s parents to return from Iowa. Alex and Darla decide they can wait no longer and must retrace their journey into Iowa to find and bring back Alex’s parents to the tenuous safety of Illinois.

But the landscape they cross is even more perilous than before, with life-and-death battles for food and power between the remaining communities. When the unthinkable happens, Alex must find new reserves of strength and determination to survive.

I love this series and absolutely loved the first audio book. The narrator for that one wasn't great, but he was fine. Unfortunately the author decided to narrate the next 2 books and ruin it. I am so mad! I was so excited to listen to the next two books because I truly do love this series... But Mike Mullin has no business narrating for a 16 year old. (Or any book really since he reads horribly!) Please stick to writing and skip recording!

Great Book ruined by Narrator.

The author should not have been given the go-ahead to read this audiobook. From the gasping breaths and audible swallowing to all narration and multiple-character dialogue being read with exactly the same narrow range of timbres and inflections, this is a very poor performance. For example, there are dramatic scenes in which characters are severely injured or terrified, and there are no changes to the way they speak. I don't know if authors are required to audition in order to perform their own writing, but this awkward and off-putting display makes the case for making such auditions a requirement.

Some authors are really lackluster, cringey readers - Exhibit A

From the other review, I expected it to be much worse but it's fine. While the narrator isn't as good as the one in the first book, they are decent enough to listen to.

The book is as good as I remember... so it's great 👍.

Better than expected!

This is probably the worst audiobook I've ever listened to. The narrator's voice is not only completely monotone but he takes big gasping breaths and lip smacks before EVERY. SINGLE. SENTENCE. Every so often he slurs words together and makes mistakes, and then sloppily tries to correct it. At one point he audibly yawns in the middle of a sentence. It honestly feels like the author decided to save some money and narrate it himself without any audio editing whatsoever. Completely ruined the book (which was okay) because it's horribly distracting. This is why professional voice actors and audio engineers are worth it

Completely ruined by terrible narrator
