In this gritty, spellbinding tale, Atlas recounts his fascinating life as a juvenile delinquent on the streets of Staten Island; as a boxer and Golden Gloves champion under the tutelage of famed trainer Cus D'Amato; as a companion to the dangerous, unpredictable Sammy "the Bull" Gravano, up until the day Gravano turned rat and brought down crime boss John Gotti; and as a trainer of champions and contenders, among them 14-year-old Mike Tyson and heavyweight Michael Moorer, whom he led to the crown with a win over Evander Holyfield.
Equally engrossing are Teddy Atlas's accounts of training Twyla Tharp, dancer and choreographer, for her successful comeback at the age of 42; his work with actor Willem Dafoe, preparing him for his role as a concentration camp boxer in the film Triumph of the Spirit; his journey to Poland to choreograph the film's boxing scenes; and his own performance in movies such as Play It to the Bone.

Great story telling
For anyone that’s a fan of Teddy this is a must listen. The fact that Teddy narrates only makes this more enjoyable as he gets emotional at some points and giggles at others. Great audio book that I finished in only a few days

wow...I feel like I know Teddy...
great book! so vivid you can make out what was happening. Teddy Atlas can be a great...is a great author, director, script writer... ect.

The reason I subscribed to Audible was to listen to this audiobook instead of reading the physical copy. There is no replacing Teddy Atlas’ iconic voice with an imitation in my own head. He reads his life story in his own voice which is great.

Utterly Phenomenal
An inspiring and very entertaining tale filled with crazy, heartbreaking and hilarious moments. Teddy Atlas cuts as a phenomenal narrator as well. A must for Boxing fans. Also a must for anyone into autobiographies about overcoming hardship and extraordinary lives
