I'm normally a fantasy reader and got turned on to this series after listening to CM's Underland series. I've been resisting reading this series for a while but it was well worth the listen. CM is a fantastic writer and the readers for this series were very well chosen. The sex scenes were really freaking hot and the characters were relatable. FM as well as MM.

There is talk of past sexual, physical abuse, and loss. If you want to listen to this and are unsure about those scenes the folks on the Facebook page are really nice and will likely give you some heads up if you ask.

A Rock 'n' Roll Journey with Repetitive Grief

"Groupie," the first book in the Rock-Hard Beautiful Series by C.M. Stunich, was my introduction to this author. With a plot that promised a unique blend of rockstar romance and deep emotional turmoil, I was intrigued enough to finally knock this one off my TBR, especially since it was available for free with my Audible subscription.

The storyline itself is solid, with well-developed characters and vivid imagery that paints a clear picture of the emotional and physical journeys these characters go through. C.M. Stunich does an excellent job of expressing the pain and passion felt by the characters, making the reader feel their struggles and heartaches.

However, the constant repetition of the phrase "my dad is dead" by the heroine quickly became tiresome. It was mentioned so frequently that it detracted from my overall enjoyment of the book. While grief is an important theme, the overemphasis on this point made it difficult to fully engage with the story. This repetitive focus on her father's death nearly drove me to DNF the book, and it left me hesitant to continue with the rest of the series.

Additionally, I found the audio narration to be disappointing. Despite the promising premise, the narration didn't quite capture the essence of the story, and I wouldn't recommend listening to this one in audiobook format.

In summary, while "Groupie" has a decent plot and some strong character development, the incessant focus on the heroine's grief and the lackluster audio narration made it a less enjoyable experience than I had hoped for.

DNF- So repetitive- Narration was good.

I DNF’d due to the main female character. She was insufferable. Narration was great. Story was not.
