À propos de cet audio
"I was in free fall the moment we met, and I just keep falling."
Small-town police officer Silas Sloane knows every resident of O'Leary, New York. He's earned the love and respect of its citizens, though living under the small-town microscope grates on him. But though he's good at his job, there's one thing he's not good at: commitments...until Everett.
Widower Everett Maior, O'Leary's newest citizen, came to the small town kicking and screaming. He never wanted to become primary caretaker for his grandfather and has no interest in living the provincial life. Snarky and superstitious, he's proficient at keeping people at a distance...until he lays eyes on Silas.
Strange disappearances are plaguing O'Leary, though, even as Silas and Everett find their growing attraction undeniable. Can they find their way to a future together, even as ghosts from the past threaten to tear them apart?

Mystery is a Mess, but the love story is cute
Ultimately this novel tried to be too much. It tried to be too cute, too mystery, too angsty, too second chancy… had it just focused on the romance it would have been perfect. The characters are great, the setting is lovely… but it needed… focus. The mystery aspect is completely superfluous.

Very adorable story! it's definitely should be longer though.
I know this book might be incredibly up lifted by the narrator of Iggy Toma and Alexander Cendace. I mean they always been a superhero voice actors narrators. I always, always forget that I'm listening to one narrative per chapter. they're just so incredible.
Though I recognise that the book it's far from what it could have been. I still think the book itself is pretty amazing.
Overall the story is pretty light hearted and pretty sweet. However I do think making it more longer could have tie up a some of the story beats very nicely.
I find that sometimes scene transitions are very quick. Which can be disorienting a bit. The whole mystery of the story is quite weird sadly. it's pretty quick and didn't have enough time to evolve and progress coherently into a climate.
Though, that's not a big deal because the book is not really labelled as crime/mystery genre.
What's more disappointing is the resolution of Everett's struggles letting go of his husband. This book could really use more longer length to really give us more details on how Everett and Silas relationships evolve more slowly and resolve into the very fine ending we had. I feel like we just speed run into the very nice and very heart warming ending. We a lot of the nice small details and life lessons that got us to the ending.
Despite that though. I think it's a pretty nice book and I just really love it. I think that the relationship of Everett and Silas so freaking sweet and heart melting. They makes the mess some of the story beats very tolerable.

Predictable small town romance, but still cute
Overall a sweet story, despite its predictable plot. Some areas of the story went on longer than others. Whilst listening, there were parts one could tune out a bit, and other times a situation seemed to start and end almost simultaneously, and it felt like there should have been perhaps a little more to it.
New to this series, but have a feeling the other books may result in a similar structure.

mystery is laughable
what the?!! a crazy man goes around killing or kidnapping people, and what do we get as a wrap-up or explanation? the crazy person's two sec explanation of him running someone off the road 10 or so years previous. what about the missing camper? what about the memorial the mom was planning? what about why he took the camper or where he buried him? why try to put mystery if it's done haphazardly? how is it the ranger goes missing and the camper goes missing and no one finds them, but one of the leads gets kidnapped and they instantly find him.
