À propos de cet audio
The victim is lying under the trees, arms lifted above his head, unnaturally still. His muscles are slack. His eyes are empty. There are no signs of life. But he is not quite dead....
When Detective Kim Stone races to the crime scene, there is no body waiting for her: The paramedics are desperately trying to save the victim’s life. But there is something very strange about the way the man was found, his arms raised above his head, his legs spread apart. When he dies on the way to the hospital, Kim is certain she’s on the hunt for a killer…but all evidence at the scene has been destroyed.
The dead man, Eric Gould, seems ordinary, until the team dig into his past. As a teenager, he was locked away for attacking his girlfriend, and Kim suspects he was hurting his fiancé now. Was someone trying to stop history repeating?
Then another man is found on the verge of death, his bones broken to force him into an unnatural shape. The team realise the killer is sending a message—the victims’ bodies are spelling out their sins. As boys, they were both part of a group of six who bragged about their terrible crimes. But they were children then, and when she sees the grief on the faces of their loved ones now, Kim swears to find answers.
Is someone finally getting revenge…or do they think these men are still dangerous? The killer is threatening to strike again, and the only way Kim can crack the case is by tracking down the rest of the six first.
But then a revelation about what one of her team is suffering makes Kim understand why people take the law into their own hands. Do these victims deserve what’s coming to them? Or is there even more to fear from their brutal killer?
Bad Blood is a brilliantly gripping crime thriller with a reveal you’ll never see coming. Fans of Karin Slaughter, Robert Dugoni, and Val McDermid will love the latest compulsive listen from multi-million-copy best seller Angela Marsons.
Can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Title: Gripping Storytelling Hindered by Narrator's Performance
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Review:
Bad Blood by Angela Marsons is a thrilling crime novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The intricate plot, well-developed characters, and suspenseful twists and turns make it an engaging and addictive listen. However, I must admit that the audio book's narrator, whose performance left much to be desired, dampened my overall enjoyment.
First and foremost, Angela Marsons deserves praise for crafting a gripping story that had me hooked from the very beginning. The narrative is rich in detail, expertly weaving together multiple storylines that gradually converge, creating a sense of anticipation and mystery. Marsons excels at creating complex and flawed characters that feel genuine and relatable, adding depth to the overall experience.
However, it is unfortunate that the narrator's performance fell short of expectations. While the audio book format can enhance the immersive experience of a story, the wrong narrator can detract from the enjoyment. In this case, the narrator's delivery lacked the necessary range and emotional depth needed to bring the characters to life. The voices assigned to different characters often sounded similar, making it difficult to distinguish between them, and at times, it felt as if the narrator was simply reading the text without fully immersing themselves in the story.
Despite the narrator's shortcomings, I found myself compelled to continue listening to Bad Blood due to the strength of the narrative itself. Marsons' ability to create tension and suspense, coupled with her skillful pacing, made it difficult to put down the audio book. I was genuinely invested in the outcome of the story and eager to uncover the truth behind the crimes being investigated.
In conclusion, Bad Blood by Angela Marsons is an enthralling crime novel that will captivate fans of the genre. While the narrator's performance detracted from the overall experience, the strength of the storytelling and well-crafted characters ultimately prevailed. I would highly recommend reading the physical book or considering alternative audio book versions if available, as the story itself is well worth exploring.
