À propos de cet audio
Living in Oklahoma with her maternal grandfather, Mary gets a new name and a new life. But she's haunted by the past: by the baby girls she's sure will come looking for her someday, by the mother she left behind, by the father who left her. Mary is a college student when her sisters start to get back in touch. With each subsequent reunion, her family becomes closer to whole again.
Moving, haunting, and at times wickedly funny, Bastards is about finding one's family and oneself.

"With Bastards Mary Anna King has crafted a wise and indispensable meditation on the true nature of family, the dislocations of adoption, and all the vital species of love. She brings light to them all." (Steve Almond, author of Against Football: One Man's Reluctant Manifesto and Bad Poetry)
"An impressive debut.... [Mary Anna King's] prose moves with lyrical wit and cultural texture as she persists with all of her protean self to figure out the nature of family and the deepest human connections amid trauma and confusion." (Peter Balakian, author of Black Dog of Fate)

An excellent story of family
I loved listening to this story about family. I don't think any family is "normal" and all are dysfunctional to various degrees. I think the author's parents did the best they could with who they are and within their circumstances. For me, the kids were the stars of this book because they we're drawn to find their unknown siblings and got to know each other despite the odds. Who knows if they would have had the same issues and life challenges if the entire family had stayed together from birth? The author raises that question and many others in her deeply personal and unconventional family story. She really conveyed the strong feelings that biological family feel despite separation and different upbringing. I enjoyed this book very much. The narrator's work was top notch and was the perfect voice for this story and its characters.

Amazing tale
Christina Delaine does an excellent job for Audible, narrating this interesting and eclectic tale of a fractured family. Our author is the second-oldest of what would be a family of seven siblings, who all ended up doled out to adoption at some point. We see how the family navigates multiple parents, siblings, and life itself. Outstanding story.
