À propos de cet audio
The epic first novel of the legendary science-fiction series.
Thirty meters tall, 70 tons of quick-striding death and destruction, the armored war machines called BattleMechs are the frontline forces of the crumbling star empire locked in the horror of the endless Succession Wars. Their pilots are MechWarriors, 31st-century knights riding armored machines powerful enough to take a city apart.
Grayson Death Carlyle had been training to be a MechWarrior since he was 10 years old, but his graduation came sooner than expected. With his friends and family dead and his father's regiment destroyed, young Grayson finds himself stranded on a world turned hostile. Now he must learn the hardest lesson of all: It takes more than a BattleMech to make a MechWarrior....
But to claim that title, all Grayson has to do is go out and capture one of those giant killing machines...if it doesn't kill him first.
About BattleTech:
Decision at Thunder Rift is one of the first of more than 90 novels set in the BattleTech universe, a 31st-century setting of constant war between planets, nations, and peoples. A ‘Mech is a 12-meter-tall, 100-ton walking war machine. Only another ‘Mech can face one. Mercenary armies battle for pay, for honor, and for causes innumerable.

Most mercenary units fly flags on two flagpoles at their headquarters: one with their unit’s flag, and other bearing the flag of their current employer. However, the Third Regimental Combat Team—a.k.a. the Eridani Light Horse—leaves one flagpole bare, as a reminder of the death of the Star League, and the other pole flies the Light Horse’s unit and regimental flags at half-mast.

Great way to enjoy the books
A very enjoyable way to experience the books I've always wanted to read, but never found the time. Only complaint would be the lack of a female narrator to add more depth, perhaps in the future.

A formative BattleTech adventure.
This series is definitive BattleTech. It captures the vibe and atmosphere very well, and explains a lot of the core mechanics of the universe. It meanders a little bit and the characterizations could be a little stronger, but overall this is a very fun ride for fans of the franchise.

Tren Sparks is the only person for reading this series.
Tren Sparks did an amazing job reading this book. He made every character come to life and nailed every emotion. The book itself was riveting and full of on the edge of the seat moments. I can't wait to hear more especially about the Grey Death Legion.

Great story read very nicely
Very very good narration. Descriptions sometimes get a bit repetitive but we're vivid enough that I almost felt the ground shake with mech thumping !

A great introduction into the Battletech universe
Narrarator did a great job, production value was high. I found the sound effects really added to the story, there was just the right amount of them without going overboard. (something i didnt care for in the earlier abridged battletech books).
Pat yourselves on the back this stories translation to audiobook was well done.

Simple, yet effective
The story isn't too complex, but that's how I like my Giant robots stories. A good introduction to the BattleTech universe, with great narration. Would listen again.

pulpy giant robots fight while young adults angst
Battletech book through and through. if giant robots smashing each other appeals, with a back ground of space politics then this is for you. the characters do a decent job developing compared to usual pulpy books though their development is quite standard hero's journey, military men becoming family and sexy woman in a male gaze type of development. none of it is particularly bad but nothing is particularly striking.
The giant robots are cool. The plots Grayson and co. attempt are coherent and well thought. Narrator decent. check it out of you enjoy robots or sci-fi military. skip if you aren't into that
