À propos de cet audio

A personal message written in human blood is left for crime reporter Molly Wilson at the murder scene of her boyfriend, San Francisco Homicide Inspector Cliff Hooper. The horrific death of a revered cop shocks the San Francisco Police Department's Homicide Detail. Shaken to the core, his grieving fellow detectives go flat out to find his killer under the glare of the city's news media.

Be Mine is a study in psychological suspense that takes the listener on an unrelenting, nail-biting journey into the darkest regions of a tormented human heart.

Fantastic finale!

I can't believe this is the last of the Tom Reed/ Walt Sydowski books! It was a fitting end to these two: a seasoned detective who is relentless in his pursuit of justice and an ambitious journalist who's driven to get the story, every time.

This time around: another person in Reed's life becomes a victim of a psycho! Seriously, if I actually knew Tom Reed I would move far away because the people in his life seem to have very bad luck.

It was another fast-paced thriller, but this time the author held onto the whodunit until closer to the end.

I enjoyed this finale. It wasn't drawn out, sappy or unbelievable. I was left quite content with where all the recurring characters ended up.

But... I still want more! Fingers crossed someone makes a really good TV series based on these guys. ;)

Well-planned Mystery

This is the first 'Tom Reed and Walt Sydowski' installment that's a conventional whodunit. Rick Mofina still provides psychological thriller intensity and suspense, but puts together a police procedural loaded with plausible suspects, a believable psychopathic perpetrator with true-to-life obsessive motivations, and Red Herrings throughout the investigation. Mofina proves that he can craft an exceptional keep-you-guessing tale (to be certain, I guessed the killer very early in the investigation.. but the revelation was nicely done).
The storytelling isn't perfect, either (a couple of characters are intended as sympathetic but come across as unlikable), but the prose is workable, descriptions are vivid, the dialogue makes the characters credible, and the pacing is spectacular - this is a captivating (if familiar) page-turner.

Christian Rummel's narration is exemplary. Diction, cadence, timbre, tone, and especially voice-acting are all characteristically outstanding. As in previous performances, Rummel reads a little too slowly, but setting playback speed at 1.10X corrects for any deficiencies in the narration. Although all of his female characters sound strikingly similar, the man is among the best in the business.

'Be Mine' rates 9 stars out of 10 - providing much better entertainment than the "free" status would imply (it was included in the 'Plus' catalogue with my subscription).
The book has excellent standalone merit - you could quite easily introduce yourself to Mofina's imaginative storytelling with this entry - but I can definitely recommend that you give any of the five books in the series (so far) a listen - in any order.

Fantastic Series

Fantastic series, great characters that I really enjoyed. I'm sad to see this is the last book in the series. I wanted more Tom Reed. Highly recommend. :)

Made me hate Molly!

How is a crime reporter so oblivious? Molly's stupidity and obliviousness are SO frustrating but I guess it adds an aspect of realism.
