À propos de cet audio

In the space of a single day, everything Fortuna thought she knew was exposed as lies and illusion. Alliances have shifted and roles are forever changed. And she now finds herself a prisoner in the Seelie Court. It is here that Fortuna learns the board for this game is even bigger than she believed. New players emerge from the shadows and the stakes are higher than ever before. There’s no time for pain or healing—just survival. At least, that’s what Fortuna thinks.

Then the game leads her to an opponent who doesn't fight with magic or swords. An opponent that not even she can beat. It turns out she didn’t even know the meaning of fear...until now.

Watch out M Night Shamylan, there be twisty roads

(L.i.t.e spoilers ahead) This was actually a 4.5 for me. It's pretty obvious that this was written in chunks over a long time and then pieced together. Often abruptly and it felt disjointed.

Don't get me wrong, it was still a fantastic journey and so much better than the previous book! ( I'm still hating on the lameness of pulling a cardboard version for of "Dracula" into it. And not even in a good way. You're such a better writer than that)

Regardless, all the good bits are there. Continually strong world building- even when you think you're done there's more that just pops up. Twists and turns rivaling M Night Shamylan, a bit of spice after so many books of the slow burn and delightful mystery that really makes you wonder who the heck is doing what to who and who could be doing what coming up next.
( I'm still convinced Emma or the boyfriend cop are baddies. And don't even get me started on Lorieli. When they tell you they're jerks and a-holes gals, listen!! )

There is a lot of dark as usual but this time it kind of takes a deep dive. So some people may want to heed trigger warnings. The emotional and psychological torture scenes were well researched and played well.

Overall I'm not going to leave a detailed review because I shared many updates throughout my reading. Suffice it to say I thoroughly enjoyed this.

The only thing I find really annoying is the constant referral to Emma as an old lady. I know fortuna is Young I know the readership is young, but a woman in her 50s is not OLD! But perhaps that's part of the whole illusion because it she's going to turn out to be a meat suit.

Oh yeah, and all of the stuff in the dreamscape became boring and tired really quickly. There's actually a whole chapter I put on 2x speed because honestly how much detail about the mountains and coldness can one person read. I get it! You actually built the world well. It was already established. There was no need for such extraneous detail. Felt like thise sections were written at 4:20...

Overall I could not recommend this more especially for people who love the fantasy/fate genre and like intelligent characters who are well-built, interact in a way that doesn't make you scream "continuity?" And of course a heroine who is really relatable.

Personally I think Colith, Fortuna and Lorelei should be in a loving, respectful polyamorous relationship. Wouldn't it just make them all happy? I think it would challenge maybe some of the fandom, but isn't that the whole point. This book is challenging on many levels. But having an HFN would be awesome and leave something for the future.

Overall a fantastic read and I look forward to the next. Even though I'm really f****** frustrated at myself not realizing that this was is not the last in the series. I really really, really ( seriously really ), hate reading a series when it's not completed. I have impatience

AUDIOBOOK NOTES
Narration of the book was absolutely fantastic again except for the last love scene which was like, what happened? Did you get bored with reading the book all of a sudden? it was totally flat which was disappointing because it was right at the end of the book.
