À propos de cet audio
A true crime podcast yields new revelations about a shocking murder in a riveting novel of suspense by Washington Post and Amazon Charts bestselling author Loreth Anne White.
True crime podcaster Trinity Scott is chasing breakout success, and her brand-new serial may get her there. Her subject is Clayton Jay Pelley. More than two decades ago, the respected family man and guidance counselor confessed to the brutal murder of teenage student Leena Rai. But why he killed her has always been a mystery.
In a series of exclusive interviews from prison, Clayton discloses to Trinity the truth about what happened that night beneath Devil’s Bridge. It’s not what anyone in the Pacific Northwest town of Twin Falls expects. Clayton says he didn’t do it. Was he lying then? Or now?
As her listeners increase and ratings skyrocket, Trinity is missing a key player in the story: Rachel Walczak, the retired detective who exposed Pelley’s twisted urges and put him behind bars. She’s not interested in playing Clayton’s game - until Trinity digs deeper and the podcast’s reverb widens. Then Rachel begins to question everything she thinks she knows about the past.
With each of Clayton’s teasing reveals, one thing is clear: he’s not the only one in Twin Falls with a secret.

great story!
The story was compelling and I was totally engaged to find out who the real criminal was. The emotions portrayed brought me to tears a couple of times! I really liked the narrator for Trinity. The woman reading Rachel's role took some getting used to and she wouldn't have been my choice (if I got to pick the narrator), but I got used to her and I enjoyed the book regardless

If you know about BC crime history...IYKYK
The story was so reminiscent of Reena Virk's murder I couldn't separate the two. Right down to the description of what Lena looked like and how she died. It was in the Victoria area, not on the lower mainland tho. I live in Prince George, so the reference to the highway of tears was a little gratuitous to me. It had nothing at all to do with the story line, but it feels like the author just had to get it in there for some odd reason. And yes, the Rachel narrator was horrible. I have never heard the narrator before and there's a good reason. I would suggest that all other authors choose someone else if they are considering her to narrate their hard work. And I have to say, no Canadian calls western Canada the pacific north west. That's an American term we just don't use. So if you're gonna write a book all about BC, maybe terminology local to BC should be used. Other than that, the story was absolutely predictable because it wasn't loosely based on the Reena Virk case, it WAS the Reena Virk case with names changed.

Great Story, BAD main narrator
This is a well written and thoughtful story with layers and a solid plot. It's clever and character driven. However, the main narrator, for Rachel's character, is horrible. On the sample, it's the second narrator, Trinity's character, whose good, and if it had been the other narrator, I wouldn't have bought the book. I'm honestly not sure how they're a voice actor, because their voice really ruined the story for me. Maybe they have a niche voice but it should have been used as the sample or even chapter one before I got invested. Also, although I liked the story, it does sit weird for me that a brutal rape and killing of an Indian girl is narrativized through white women's perspectives. The book dances around race and racism and that's messed up. Her family also should have been more centralized in the plot. Brown girl death and abuse shouldn't just be a plot device.
